Save your seven-odd dollars that these collars cost and buy yourself a couple of beers at the nearest bar. Believe me, that will kill as many fleas as the collar; perhaps more. I wish I had read the reviews before buying these collars. I bought five collars for our cats. They were all put on the same day, about a month ago. All five cats are still infested with fleas. I've even found fleas living UNDER the collar! Walmart tells me these collars are no longer available. Hopefully, no one else will get stuck believing the Hartz claims that this product "Kills & Repels" fleas, 'cause it doesn't.
I needed something right away because I usually get Frontline Plus online and didn't want to wait for the shipment. It was time to put something on the dog. I purchased this Hartz product and I must say, if you want to throw good money after bad, then get this. It is just like putting water drops on your pet. Took the remainder back to the store. I thought they may have improved after all these years. Hartz has been around for many years and is just as bad as it always was. If you want to have to treat your pets and then your house, then get this Hartz.
We used to do flea drops, but switched to this collar almost two years ago. This collar is made of 1/8" thick, rubber like material with a plastic buckle. The fit can be made just right for the cat and then the excess length of the collar can be trimmed off, if needed. When I first switched to this collar, I started with giving my cat a thorough flea bath. I made sure she was all dry and then I put on the collar. I then kept her in the house for an additional day or two to make sure the collar had time to start working. She has since been outdoors as much as she likes and we have not had any trouble with fleas or ticks. Every 5-6 months or so, we switch to a new collar and she's ready to go outdoors again. It is that simple to use. This has been working perfectly for us and I have no complaints at all!
My cat wore this collar for a week and then when I was petting him I notices welts on his skin where the collar was. I took it off of him and he still has sores on his neck days later. Poor guy! I would NOT get this for your cat. It may work but it left awful redness and welts!!
I tend to stick to flea drops, but decided to try a collar. This was a mistake. Lasts seven months? Two days later the fleas were living UNDER the collar! They were having a party on the collar itself! Waste of money. I used to trust this brand. Going back to Sentry.
