Havahart Extra Large Steel 1-Door Wild Animal Trap

I am writing a review for the Spark Review Program about the Havahart Live Animal cage trap. This item came packaged in a very large box and was so much bigger than I had expected. Thankfully it came preassembled and ready for use, limiting the hassle of reading often confusing instructions. This trap was very easy to manage and setup.  I have used animal traps in the past, but definitely on a much smaller scale. This was very familiar for me to use, but so much nicer on the larger scale. The bait/trip tray was larger enough to handle heavier bait, but sensitive enough to setup off and trap the animal. The large cage was big enough to handle the larger rodents: raccoons, opossums, as well as other stray animals that needed catching. I was very happy to review this product and will consider other items made by this company. Thank you.

I have tested and used Havart live catch traps for many years with fantastic results. This trap is absolutely rugged and will handle even the toughest little animals. I like the spring loaded closing door, I like the hook for hanging the bait so your critter has to jump up to get it. I like how secure the entry door is once triggered, nothing is getting out of that even if the trap falls over. One issue seems to come along with many of these LARGE traps. The trigger mechanism or Trigger-Plate is not sensitive enough and you can depress it all the way to the floor of the cage on the left side, without triggering the cage. Your bait will simply be gone and you won't know why unless you have cameras observing the trap. If you push down on the right-side of the trigger plate (where the set-arm comes through the side) it will trigger with a lot of pressure, but as I mentioned, the left side can be pressed to the bottom with no trap activation. The target animal will have to put heavy pressure across the trip plate for this trap to be successful. Stray dog may trip it, but not a cat or a fox or a raccoon... they would have to really force it. So, I do recommend it, but you'll have to adjust the trigger release so that lighter pressure can activate the trap. Once something goes in and it closes, nothing is coming out until you decide it's time. Well constructed trap that will last a very long time.

I received my Havahart X Large Door Animal Trap from the Spark Reviewer Program and it is just what we needed. The trap is 42 inches Long by 15 inches Wide by 15 inches Tall. The trap is made with Galvanized Steel that resists rust and damage. It's directions are precise and easy to open and shut. It also gives you suggestions on what to use for Bait. the cage is safe for catching and releasing animals The trap is easy to move around on your property. We have caught 2 groundhogs so far. This trap is also the right size For Opossums and Raccoons or other animals of that size. I would recommend this to my friends.

We have been using the Havahart X-Large trap for about a week now and are pleased with it. It seems to be built very sturdy and of good quality. We were surprised at how large this trap really is. I know it is labeled x-large but it said it was for raccoons or groundhogs. We are pretty sure we will be able to trap a Fox in it. So far we have trapped a raccoon and were pleased with the performance of the trap. It is easy to set too. Very pleased.

just received a couple days ago works really good. The first night we put in our backyard having problems with something. We set it up to catch whatever was destroying my gardens. So two days ago we caught it a Bob Cat yup small but mighty, we took to the conservation center and they took care of it. I was to afraid to let loose myself. Now I can enjoy my vegs. This will be used all the time.
