Great product, but Walmart used Amazon Prime packages to deliver item. Instead of putting in one box to ship they used two amazon prime bubble mailers and both boxes was crushed and ruined when delivered because it was shipped in bubble mailer. I understand everyone is short handed but come on Walmart at least ship in Walmart packaging. This review is based more on shipping practices than product. Please be aware when having items shipped
When I first received these, the box was crushed and torn. I used one of the bags to hold the others. I like that they have the zipper closure rather than the kind that have to be pinched closed which sometimes are difficult to get sealed. These close tightly every time with little effort and are nice strong bags and large enough to hold quite a bit. They are the only kind I use.
The name Hefty is as American as apple pie. While they are known for all the many different plastics, this particular bag has two of my favorite features, one, it has a sliding tab for sealing and two its BIG. Firstly, the size I chose to assess is a 1 gallon volume. It measures a little bigger than a sheet of paper when laid flat but the size allows me to use it in many different ways. As storage in the freezer, I can place a large cut of meat inside or many smaller cuts. I have even been known to compartmentalize smaller plastic bags with a variety of foods into the 1 gallon bag for organization which somewhat double seals the food. I love its size also to seal snacks that don't need freezing when I'm traveling or if a package from the grocery store breaks unexpectedly, I can use one of these bags to repackage and place in my pantry. The sliding tab I bragged on allows me to open and close the bag as often as needed. Lastly, the other favorite use of this bag for me is somewhat of a home remedy tip. I can take a bag and completely fill it with dish washing soap of any brand. The best color is blue for obvious reasons. When I place in the freezer for a few hours, it does not freeze but creates a flexible cold gel inside and this creates a convenient cold pack which to can bend and use on a sore muscle or neck very easily.
This is one product that I always buy to keep my meats fresh when I use the Hefty Gallon Freezer Bags. They are very easy to open, and I really like the strong zipper. It is also very easy to open and close. I even use it to store sugar, flour, leftovers, and even when I'm mixing up the ingredients to make Monkey Bread. They are very helpful and convenient. I highly recommend buying the Hefty Freezer Bags.
I have been a fan of Hefty Slider Bags for a number of years. As I recall, they received an award as best new consumer product of the year when they first came out. They are made in both a Storage and a Freezer version, both in quart and gallon sizes. The Gallon Freezer bags are great! They are one third thicker than the storage bags, and really prevent freezer burn on meats. I have frozen expensive steaks and chops in these bags for periods as long as 6 months, and never had a bad experience! The plastic zipper heads are sturdy, and there is a "click" when it is fully closed, so you are sure. There is a nice size white space for writing the contents and date, with pen or marker. I have frozen mashed yellow turnip etc in these and they can then be microwaved by opening the bag an inch or so and placing on microwave safe plate. (Can be re-heated in same manner). These are not flimsy and do not fall apart in use. Besides food, there are many other uses for storage and organization. I use them to organize household items, eg, storing an item with several parts and an owners manual. You can see at a glance what it is. I also organize my pocketbook and tote bag with these; the freezer bags hold up better under daily use like that. The bags eliminated the big messy heap of stuff at the bottom of my tote bag; easier to change purses, too. I was told at an outdoor outfitters' shop that the Hefty freezer bags are the best way to organize a backpack, also.
