Paraffin-wax treatments soften and smooth the skin of hands, elbows, and feet, and the heat can soothe sore muscles and aching joints. Using the bath is no more complicated than melting 4 to 6 pounds of paraffin in the cool-touch tub. (Six pounds of pure, hypoallergenic paraffin accompany the bath.) The temperature control is then turned to "keep warm" and the wax allowed to cool before hands, elbows, and feet are dipped into the melted paraffin 6 to 10 times.
