ThIs item has two 1.5 gallon reservoirs that alternate water use, so one can be filled while the other is in use. You can see in the photo the nice handles that help to easily carry and fill with cold tap water, always use cold water! If it runs out of water, it shuts off. On high humidity, it continuously runs. If you adjust the setting to less, it shuts off when it reaches that level. Of humidity. You will need to play with the setting to get it to the proper humidity. There is not a humidity gauge on the unit. I was not looking to get one with a gauge and I would not like it to have one. There are 3 fan settings, I like that you can lower the fan when I have it in our family room to adjust it to better hear conversations or when the TV is in use. Obviously there may be other reasons to adjust the setting to fin your needs. Works well and does a great job. I bough this to replace my lasko trickle style humidifier I had for 10 years. It died this year, very sad. I looked at many units, and this one was large enough for a large family room like mine, over 1700 sq feet of space to add humidity. It does well. I use it in the bedroom at night to increase the moisture in the winter time. I also love the white noise to assist in sleeping. It is often in the family room due to the fireplace, again in the winter months for obvious reasons, as the fireplace does dry things out a bit. This unit works great. It came with a filter. I do clean it out about every other week. Hope to keep th S for many years, as I am sure I will. Free delivery was awesome as it arrived quickly. The unit is listing now at $155.00, but I got it for under $90.00 at Christmas time. The unit was white not grey, but it didn't matter to me. Not sure what the price increase is all about.
Very noisy even at the slowest speed. Forget the higher speeds if you want to live in the same house. It is not a Honeywell product either so forget about the value of that name. They slapped their name on it but it is made by someone else. This is a light weight piece of plastic junk with no insulation from vibration between the parts. If you buy it to try it, don't wet the filter and be sure to save the sales slip so you can return it.
I was looking for humidifier for my walking humidor(640 cubic ft) and it is doing a wonderful job. It has settings for humidity level and fan speed. After reaching desire humidity level, it shuts off automatically. There is also a filter inside it so can just put tap water in it. I would recommend this product for someone who is looking for good quality humidifier for really good price.
Recommended to do 1900 sq. ft, we're using it on 1300 sq ft., it's been running on high for 9 days non stop and our humidity has risen from 8% to 35%. I assumed it would be higher than that by now. Quiet on low speed but medium and high it is very loud. Running on high it needs to be filled every 12 hrs.
I have a large, very dry bedroom where I spend a lot of time, as I'm disabled and don't get out a lot. I have a similar, larger humidifier that does a good job in the dining, living and other bedrooms, but I needed another one for my large bedroom. This one brought the humidity from 22 to 50% within 30 minutes and maintains 50% with ease with the fan on low speed. The humidity and speed controls are easy to set for best operation. I do strongly recommend an inexpensive Hygrometer (around $13. at Walmart) so you know the humidity you're comfortable with. 40 to 60% is recommended, I keep mine at 50%. Knowing the humidity lets me run the unit more efficiently with less fill-ups of the twin water tanks, mine needs refilling at around 10 to 12 hours, and does depend on the humidity outside and your type of heating. I strongly recommend using a water treatment with a bacteria inhibitor to keep unpleasant bacteria from growing in the humidifier. (Walmart has these, very inexpensive) I am well pleased with this purchase, it does what I need very well.
