Honeywell EnergySmart Infrared Heater, White, HZ-970

So far so good!!!!! It's doing exactly what I need it to do and what it says it can do!!!! I live in the Mts of SoCal and need to heat an outer room for my kitties.....I will definitely see and note my electric bill increase from month to month

I purchased this unit the HZ-980, to heat a efficiency apartment. My apartment is a little larger than the normal living room, 15ft. X 18ft. Heating has been a problem. This unit as advertised is to heat a normal size living room, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and a try. Perfect, keeping the thermostat at 68 degrees keeps my apartment comfortable most of the day. At night maybe at 70 for awhile then back to 68. Warm all night. Very satisfied and would recommend to friend and anyone else. Worth the money spent.

I am simply in "Awe" of this incredible little heating machine (measures 11Wx14Lx15H)! It seems to heat any room in my small house almost instantly. We are in the middle of a remodel so this heater has come in super handy! At times, it heats up so fast, I have to turn it off! And it's incredibly QUIET too! The heater is equipped with four pre-installed easy gliding caster wheels, a remote control with battery, and came ready to use out of the box. There is a compartment that houses the remote when not in use. Once you hit the ON button, the User must wait for warm up of the machine, which I would estimate to be approximately 20-30 seconds. Once warm up is completed, this machine defaults to L3 which is the highest setting of 1500 watts of power. It has two additional pre-programmed settings: the lowest setting is L1, draws 1000 watts, and L2 draws 1250 watts. All three pre-programmed settings create a constant heat level. This particular model also has two additional settings for the User to program to their favorite heat level and also comes with a 1-8 hour timer. The programs can be overridden by the User by selecting the up/down buttons on the unit or the remote control. One thing to remember is, this heater also needs to power down after the User turns it off. In other words, don't pull the plug out of the wall to turn it off or before it powers down. Turn the heater off by pressing the On/Off button on the control panel. It will go into a power down mode for 20-30 seconds and then the User can safely unplug it from the wall outlet. I've really enjoyed this heater and love how sleek-looking and light-weight it is. The exterior is made of a black polished-looking high quality safety plastic with a luminous blue touch-screen control panel display. I also love that it has the ability to be moved around in different directions on the caster wheels utilizing the 6 foot power cord without the tip feature being activated. (Note that the heater must have a 3 foot clearance from any wall or combustible material.) This outside case is cool to the touch. Even so, my only concern is forgetting that the remote control, which is housed in a somewhat hidden compartment toward the back of the machine and under the handle, is left in its holder while the heater is in operation. The remote control is the same black color as the heater exterior making it difficult to see it. So my word of caution is, the remote has a battery in it and probably shouldn't be stored there while the heater is operating. The instruction manual states that the remote control can be stored in its holder when not in use, but the instructions have no cautionary warning about storing it there while the heater is In Use. So if the User will not be using the remote, it may be safest to remove the battery while the remote is in its holder. I forgot a few times and left the remote in its holder with the battery in it while operating the heater, so I think the manufacturer should come up with a holder closer to the front and within view of the User. Better to err on the side of safety. I am super-duper satisfied with this heater and will be using it for years to come, I am sure. Other safety features include the four way tip-over (front, back, side to side), a high temperature and safety control preventing overheating, an over-heat switch which shuts the heater down. As with all operating machines, please read all of the safety precautions and instruction manual before use. This heater is fantastic. I live in a split level home and the downstairs is a finished living area. Living room, bar, bedroom and bathroom.....We had a few cold nights last week and in split levels, the downstairs can get a little bit cold. I turned on the heater and it tells you right away what the temp. is in the room and it was 68 degrees. Just a little too chilly to be comfortable. I went and selected the manual temp control and set it to 72 just to see how quickly it could heat up this large open area. It did a great job. It only took an hour or so before it hit 70 and then another 30 minutes to hit 72....which turned out to be a little to toasty for me. It is a good size, not too big, so you can put it in a space that it won't be tripped over. I really like the safety features on this heater too. If it moves in any way it turns itself off. It comes with a remote control that of course we had to try out and it worked great from the couch which was about 5 feet away from the unit. When you are not using the remote the is a nice little spot for it right under the handle. It run very quiet too. When you power it off it has a 60 second cool down period where the fan just runs and coold it down before turning off. I am really impressed with this product and I would recommend getting one for that area that just needs to be a little warmer.

Amazingly, this lightweight little number is a heavyweight when it comes to warming up a room pronto! Living in the Northeast is always a challenge when it comes to heating certain areas of my house which was built in 1934. There always seem to be a draft somewhere even when the windows and storms are closed tightly. I put this Honeywell Heater in the draftiest room which is the den on the second floor. It was very easy to read the instructions and very shortly after I plugged it in, it began to "power up" and the warmth began to fill the very large room. One of the very nice features is the "L1" setting which keeps a continuous "low heat" setting which maintains room temp at just the right warmth without it being too cold or too hot. I particularly like the heater being Energy Smart and that it can be moved easily because of the wheels at bottom of the unit. Another nice feature is the remote control gadget enabling the user to control the settings without having to move. CAUTION: It is absolutely important to follow the instructions provided in regard to safety features and instructions. This is not to imply any malfunction or problem with the unit. It is just a matter of common sense that instructions such as not placing unit near curtains, using extension cords, etc. should be followed without exception, as is the same with many other products. This Honeywell Heater will be moved to different areas in the house as needed; most regularly to the basement which gets very cold because there is no heating there. I love, love this practical, energy-SMART, mobile unit.
