I ran this thing a total of fifteen minutes. It ran on low for about 10 and as soon as it was on high for five it kicked off. It gets real hot around the front but the fan hardly blows so it trips the heat sensor or the thermal fuse. Don't waste your money. It is no good. They don't make things to work anymore. They make them to be bought. I had nothing around the front or sides that could have made it too hot either. Totally useless and I wanted to be warm. So much for that.
This heater looks nice and has good build quality. It puts out plenty of heat for a small room, even on the 900W (medium) setting. I imagine it would do well in a medium sized room. I spent a lot of time shopping the Web for small ceramic heaters, and I looked at many makes and models. Eventually settled on this one and I'm glad I did. I especially wanted a model where the thermostat controls the fan as well as the heating element - this one does. It would be perfect if it had a dust filter over the air intake, like the 'pelonis' type ('brown box') heater that I replaced, but I suppose you can't have everything. Walmart.com had the best price I found and they shipped promptly.
This is a great little heater. For its size, it puts out a lot of heat, but i will say that in very low temperatures it is forced to work harder and works best in a closed room, to make the most of the heat it creates. i have bought 3 of these heaters, and i give it a high recommendation.
This heater has a horrible smell. I never smelled anything like it and the smell is hard to describe. Each day for about 10 days I put it out in the garage and let it run continuously for two or more hours in an attempt to burn away the smell. After doing this the smell was down to a tolerable level, but it is still present. Now after three weeks of use it still has a slight smell. I'm guessing that something may have been assembled incorrectly, maybe there is a wire hitting the heating element and the wire insulation is melting. But that's just a guess. Otherwise, it works well and puts out plenty of heat. It is thermostatically controlled and has adequate safety features.
This ceramic heater is awesome! I have mine in my upstairs dining room, living room and kitchen area. It heats the rather large space up quickly. It's not super loud and the sides of the heater stay fairly cool. The front of the heater does get hot sp you may have to be careful with small kiddos. Over all I love this thing. It's so much more comfortable at times were the temp drops quickly and allows less adjustments at the thermostat. I also live that I can carry it into my office or bedroom easily so I can be comfortable no matter where I am in the house.
