Hostess® Party Size Twinkies Holiday Baking Kit, 32oz. 3 Piece

The cake tasted like stale yellow cake with the consistency of cornbread. The filling was loose and tasted like nasty generic whipped cream. The only thing that remotely resembled a Twinkie was the shape!!

Warning!! DO Not follow the instructions! They say to use 1 1/4 oz. of water. It should really be 1 and 1/4 cups of water. Also the recipe calls for 5 small eggs. Nobody buys small eggs anymore. 4 large eggs seemed just right. Also, you Do NOT need 3 cups of heavy cream. This is way too much. I did this and it made enough to fill six giant twinkies, and the cream was not very sweet. I would suggest using just 1 cup of cream and half of the powder packet. Be careful with the sharp edges on the flimsy pan. Also, dont expect this to really taste like Twinkies. It doesnt.

The cake was dry and like foam but they did give quite an abundance of filling. The pan has very sharp edges!!!!! The long edge gave me a pretty big paper cut like cut on palm of my hand while I was washing it. The second time I used the pan to shape my meatloaf and I was washing it afterward and was even being careful as I remembered the last time and sure enough it got me twice. A small but deep cut between the thumb and forefinger and one by my knuckle on other hand. I did contact Walmart and I guess I am waiting to hear from someone I don't know but I did tell him that as I had to come to this page to get the product number and saw the reviews that I a not the only one who has a pan with sharp edges. But a really cool concept of a pan!

Love the pan, love the cream filling (Which you need to buy Heavy Cream to make). However, the cake itself was a disappointment. It is not a fluffy sponge cake, as one would expect when making a giant Twinkie. The overall flavor is not that of a Twinkie either. It is like putting whipped cream on a plan yellow cake. However, since I have the pan now, I will try it again. But I will make an Angel Food cake in the Twinkie pan. When it is done, and cooled, I will slice the cake in half length-wise, scoop out a bit of cake from the middle of each half, and then fill with whipped cream. And put the top half back on the bottom half. I think that will make it taste more like a Twinkie!

The look and taste were very good. The pan provided in the kit has very sharp edges and opened an inch long cut in my finger.
