This is the perfect gift for a child that is 1 year of age to age 2 or so. Most kids that age love music and sound. It has plenty of moving parts for the 1 year old to keep them busy. I also noticed some time ago that a 1 year old LOVES to put things into something just to take it back out and do it all over again. My only disappointment was that it was the barn door that opens to take out the items inside instead of one side of the roof flipping up. Also, there isn't anything on the back side for them to do or play with. Towards age 2, they will learn to put the shapes into the proper holes and learn the letters and numbers. So far, it seems very sturdy and should last until they are too old for it. If you think you're child is interested in this type of toy, I also bought Laugh and Learn Cookie Surprise by Fischer Price. Both were reasonably priced at $10 each and the Cookie Surprise has a lighted nose as well.

My son is 16 months old now but he's had this toy since he was 12 mo. The other reviewers are right, it is a very basic toy and it does not play sounds when blocks are dropped through the holes. My son loves this toy because he can open and close the door and it has a handle so he stuffs it full of other toys and carries it around. It is very durable, made well - he likes to throw it on the floor repeatedly (likes the noise it makes) and it has not broken or even chipped in any way. The blocks do fit easily into the holes, my son can put them in with ease. I can see how some older kids would get bored with it, but like most other toys, with some imagination it can be fun... like stuffing other things in there, etc. The toys on the side aren't that appealing, they don't do much. All in all, for the price, this is a great basic simple toy. You really can't go wrong.

Pretty basic product. I bought for my 16 month old and he likes the barn but has a hard time understanding that the farm animals do not get dropped in the barn. It would have been better if the animals could all fit in the barn just like the letters do.

I picked this out for my son's first birthday. And although it did say that it stimulates with sound, there were no sounds on the toy, other than when you turn the hands on the barn clock, and that's only a clicking noise. I thought that was a waste. But my son really enjoys playing with the farm animals. His particular favorite is the sheep: he carries the little guy everywhere. He also likes to put things inside the barn through the big door on the front, then push it around the floor. But I have to agree with other reviews, the letters are too hard for someone his age to figure out how to place in their slots. And what baby that is only 12 months old, is going to have the sense to go and change the hands on the clock to get sound stimulation? The only reason that I didn't return this toy and get the other one, was because my son loves the little animals, and it's been able to survive both my son, and my mum's bull terrier. And that's saying something. But I don't think that I would recommend this toy to others. There's a reason why it only costs that much.

I bought this toy for my 12 month old. I was very happy with it. Shelby Faye loves the animals and the barn yard door it maybe a little hard to learn but that means it is helping her. I also like the price. For the money and the use it is well worth the purchase. I am going to buy one for the nursery at church.
