Bought in 2020. Constantly goes off in 2025. We have 7 of these in our home. So much for 10 year life expectancy. Very disappointed.
I bought this in 2020 and it died. Not the 10 year experience! The manufacturer code says May 25, 2020.
My mother-in-law put on some eggs to boil and subsequently fell asleep. The pot boiled dry and burned the eggs, filling her house with smoke. She has two of these that, according to the previous owner, are less than 5 years old, and neither one activated. There was enough smoke to chase the cats from the house, and Mom fortunately woke up. I ran a test on both alarms when I arrived, and they both functioned on the test.
I haven't had smoke detected, however at 4:30am the alarm in one of the devices kept going off, scared the crap out of me! It's dated 2017. No low battery chirp in this devise, it just goes off.
Same old story. Few months after installing, it started intrmittently alarming one evening for no reason whatsoever. Half dozen beeps then silent. Repeat every 10 minutes for hours. This was long after dinner and none of the other alarms in the house were going off. . Finally wrapped it in towels and stuck it in the garage. Tonight we retrieved it. It had shut up and tested OK, but after reading many reviews here, decided to cut our losses and disabled it. And yes, this is definitely Kidde i9010 - sez so right on the unit.
