Kidde Fyrnetics Heat Detector with 9-Volt Battery Backup, 120 Volts AC

Well, the Kidde took forever to get to my home! (A month after shipped)! We have 5 Kidde Fire Protection in our home and if this new product had a higher temperature range, it may have been ideal to add to them. Obviously, we can not use this Kidde Fyrnectis Heat Detector. I can see this being used in cooler climates especially in their summer temps. I was so happy when I received the Kidde Heat Detector as I know Kidde products are outstanding! Just sorry to say this will not work here in CA. If Kidde could design a Heat Detector for higher temperatures, we would buy it! It would fit right into our current Kiddes!

Great smoke device, very effective we tested the unit and all my other units throughout house responded to it. Device came with working battery which is a huge plus. Device was very loud and I'm very confident in its effectiveness. Super easy install and even came with replacement connection wires.

It's super easy to replace this heat detector. I recently painted my home and the old detector started to look very ugly. I decided to replace it, yes, no malfunctioning but for beautification purposes. This unit was awesome, it's more like a plug and play device. I just had to make wire connections, which was literally plugging in a wire. Then I screwed it on the ceiling, that was it. This tiny magician was ready to work. I tested with an intentional act of heat and the alarm went off as expected. So far, I haven't experienced any false alarms or technical issues. The 9-vold battery back is a nice add on to have with it. This unit complements my new paint pretty well. I am happy with my choice.

I installed this Kidde heat alarm in my kitchen and am so happy that I did. I had a regular smoke alarm in there and would get frequent false alarms when cooking. No, I am not a terrible cook. When I would use multiple burners on the stove at once, apparently the heat (and yes, sometimes smoke – lol) would set off the alarm. It was so frustrating to have to stop what I was doing to attend to the screeching alarm. I simply removed the old smoke alarm and clipped this one directly in its place. Even though the old one was wired 20 years ago, it was still compatible. It took me about a minute to switch them. I have had this new alarm in place for two weeks now. I cook every day, multiple times per day, and I have not had a false alarm since installing this new system. I didn't even know these types of alarms existed until now. If I had, I would have replaced that annoying alarm years ago. The directions do advise that this alarm only be used in homes that also have regular smoke alarms. We have regular alarms in all the bedrooms, so this isn't a problem. I would recommend this alarm to anyone who likes to get a little hot in the kitchen.

The heat detector works well with an existing smoke alarm system, but in my opinion has a fatal flaw. It is easy to install if you remove the smoke alarm and replace it with this item...but then you have no smoke alarm in that room. To install it along side your smoke alarm will require an electrician to wire it in.
