At first I didn't prime. The old dry clay brick was drinking up the paint. I decided to stop and paint with Kilz primer first. Not only did this do the trick it covered up old soot stains that couldn't be removed. Now I have a beautiful white brick fireplace in a 1920 Florida bungalow. Walls are teal and it's a very striking look. I get many compliments. And, it was easy and economical design upgrade. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
