Kobo Clara HD eReader - 6" Glare-Free, High-Definition Carta E Ink Touchscreen Display, ComfortLight PRO, Wi-Fi enabled

We did the usual search for on-line reviews of e-readers and settled on this because its specs were clearly good enough to work with, and in some measure because we are accustomed to using our local library and preferred not having Amazon as a filter on that, nor did we want to deal with Amazon's ads. We liked this device so much we bought a second. The set-up is a little clunky, but the reading experience makes up for that.

Absolutely adore this e-reader! I tried reading on my phone and it killed my eyes. Not so with the e-reader. Battery life is phenomenal and using Calibre (free library management program) makes organizing my e-pubs easy. I bought a third-party case from Amazon that puts the reader to sleep when I close the cover and it made this e-reader even better. My only gripes: This reader can't display series, so if you have more than 1 book in a series, you'll need something like Calibre to label them or the Kubo will just give you a big list. Also - every time I restart my Kubo, this Walmart e-books title screen pops up for a few seconds. I don't use Walmart e-books, but I guess I'm stuck with that stupid title screen forever because, guess what? There's no setting to change it and no option online to change it either. Grrr.

I really like my Kobo Clara HD eReader. I had one before, but it was defective. It wouldn't turn on even after a full charge. I also had developed a line through the text and the light would fade out. My new one is working great! It is so easy to use and is WiFi enabled with built in Overdrive so I have easy access to any book I want to read. Highly recommend this product.

I am enjoying discovering all of the features on my new Kobo Clara HD. The only reservation that I have is that the User Guide gives more space to ordering books from their bookstore than it does downloading books from the library. All in all is much easier to use than my Nook was.

I just gave the Kobo to my daughter who is an avid reader for Xmas. She is looking forward to checking out digital books from the library. She is just starting to set it up, but hasn't used it yet for reading. I'll come back to update this review, but out of the box I'm knocking off a star because the e-reader in sleep mode shows the Walmart Rakuten logo. It's not like I got the Kobo for free or anything. If there's a way to eliminate the logo in settings or something I'd like to know.
