This lock has worked well and reliably for many years. The batteries generally last six months to one year depending on the seasonal temperatures and use. I have used this with both Smart things and currently a Hubitat c-7 hub. For initial set-up, both required the lock to be in close proximity of the hub for inclusion. The device works well with Siri through Homebridge and has been tested with Alexa. Alexa was not used many years ago for security concerns, but now properly configured, Alexa should work. Since this is installed below a Kiwikset Smart deadbolt it was necessary to shorten the height of the device and this does require loosening and tilting the assembly to remove the battery pack for battery replacement. The height could be easily shortened by the manufacturer since the style is cosmetic. To do this, one needs a Dremel type cutter, a scape piece of plastic, super glue and some paint.
This product will not stay connected to my Hubitat Elevation C7 hub. I have several other Z-Wave devices and all of them work perfectly. so, it is not a hub issue. Furthermore, it is a blasted nuisance to have to run a long network cable from my normal hub location to my back door in order to exclude and then re-include this thing. Taking the head unit to the hub is a possibility but with my huge fingers, connecting and disconnecting the cable plug is not easy, and those wires look VERY easily broken, and are BARELY long enough to offer easy connection. Mechanically, the lock is more than satisfactory, and locally, the codes work fine, so, it warrants two stars. I am trying to find SOMEONE who sells the Zigbee version, but no one knows a thing.
Bought this Z-Wave three years ago. Worked well until this past year. The batteries now deplete within a month - and getting worse. Just had the batteries show 1% on Z-Wave controller. Changed the batteries, still 1%. Changed the batteries again, still 1%, Changed again. still no battery improvement.
I bought this just before Christmas 2018. I absolutely love it. It is integrated with SmartThings so I have multiple ways of unlocking the doors. I can use SmartThings, combination codes or key. I can also have up to approximately 30 combinations. Built solid and very reliable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
These automated locks are great for connecting to smart home monitoring systems (i.e. Alarm.Com). The only drawbacks are as follows: 1) Range can be an issue as it takes a secure Z-Wave signal (can't hop more than ~ 5X), 2) They're big and can be cumbersome to use if there's a deadbolt on the door, 3) Depending on the number of people / kids int he house they can run through batteries quickly. Overall a a great well designed product though. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
