Lark Rise To Candleford: The Complete Collection (DVD)

I loved it

This series has brought a lot of memories in my life as I think of me in the little village in Africa where I grew up. I have never felt so attached to a TV show but this one had something about it. Just a moment ago my 'partner' in watching this series and finished watching season 4 and we were looking forward to see the 5th season but to our dismay and disappointment, we realised it had been cancelled. BRING IT BACK..! Superb Acting, wonderful story-line, very human lovable and often wise characters. Queenie who we are disappointed not to see listed on the credits was the heart of the little but lively Lark Rise community, Dorcas, indeed a meddler but full of wisdom and the heart of the upcoming Candleford Town, Robert Timmins, a Character after my own heart - a man standing for democracy and not afraid to speak his mind and very wise, as well as giving a taste of what a family within a community is, Alfie Arles - a character made up of deep integrity, a musician, a man of the land, Laura - the sensation and a character showing the love of one's roots and eventually realising that what we learn and we feel passionate about in our childhood might as well be what we end up being as adults. For Laura, it was writing the human stories. Emma, the loving mother and wife who struggles to find her place in a man's world but also tells of the devastation of a partner being away. Thomas Brown, a stout but insensitive (at times) Christian with suppressed emotions, and Thomas' wife Margaret - timid but comes to find who she is and her role. It was interesting when she tried to dress and act like a man just to play a game she was better at than most men... The list is endless! This shows how much we loved the show. It was our ritual and it shall remain to be the best TV show ever!

The product was a good source of entertainment. Good story and held one's interest throughout. English shows are always the best.
