Learning Resources' Alphabet Soup Sorters is an awesome educational resource for teachers, home schoolers, or anyone wanting to play educational games with kids. The 26 cans do take up some space, but this just means that the cans are actually a good size to fit in small hands. This set is not cheaply made. I am very impressed with the quality of the cardboard cans, the plastic lids, and the cardboard inserts. Everything is very bright and colorful. The type and number of games and/or learning activities these cans can be used for is UNLIMITED. The sorters come with an activity sheet that lists several activities and games for the cans. But, a little imagination and these cans can be used in so many ways. Children from toddlers on up through elementary should be able to use this as a learning resource. Teaching beginning sounds, colors, rhyming, spelling, sorting, and sequencing are just a few of the ones I can think of for use in a learning environment. I definitely recommend this product for anyone who wants to teach their child or use in a classroom setting. Great resource.
These Alphabet Soup Sorters are so great!! There is a soup can for each letter of the alphabet and each can is filled with letter and photo cards. This item really does allow for so many learning and teaching opportunities between children and parents/teachers. We've used it with a toddler/preschool homeschool teachings and it was so much fun!! We played "seek and find the letters" with all the cans and then one by one opened each can to see what "goodies" were inside. I can see this soup can sorter being used for many many many different games and learning adventures in our home. There are LOTS of pieces that go along with it!!! Each can and accessory piece is made out of a hard cardboard type material so they seem like they will hold up well. We've only had this item for about 2 weeks. I would recommend this for day cares, preschools, and classrooms!! It is a great addition to any learning atmosphere. It also came with a list/guideline of all different ideas on ways to use the alphabet sorter. So if you run out of learning ideas, you can get more ideas there. Overall, this was a great addition to our playroom/schoolroom!! I would definitely recommend it to family and friends!!!
As a teacher, I typically create most of the manipulatives my students use in the classroom. This box of Alphabet Soup Sorters is durable, cute, and educational. It would have taken me hours to put together something like this, and the commercially produced one will intrigue my students. So, I consider it a Win-Win! Many students need additional help with letters and sounds; this box of soup sorters will be a great phonemic awareness activity they can use independently, in a small group, or that I can use during class instruction. Each can contains an upper case letter, a lower case letter, and photos of items that begin with that letter. The photos also have the names of the items written on the back. (Built in differentiation!) I have been thinking of several games the students can play using these sorters. Not only will this be educational, it is attractive and will display nicely in my classroom. I would highly recommend this to Parents As Teachers Educators, Home School Moms, Preschool Teachers, and even those who teach Kindergarten or First Grade.
this learning tool comes with 26 containers, each container has 1 uppercase letter and 1 lower case letter. The containers have 7 pieces in each container 2 letters and 5 pictures, the pieces are shaped like the item it shows also it has the spelling of the item on the back. the pieces are made to be held my small hands/ The colors are very eye catching for young ones. This learning tool comes with some instructions for games and some suggestions for learning ideas. we have a special needs child in our family and she cannot say words but when she was shown some of the pieces she made the sounds of the item on the cutout. i think this is going to be great for her to learn some things as she was very excited opening the cans to see what was in each one. you need to supervise little one you don't want all of these pieces loose. this is a great learning tool i wish this was around when my children were small it would have been easier. I would suggest anyone with small ones get one of these it is great and be sure to use the box it comes in they fit nicely in the box.
This is a great tool to help a young child learning ABC's. If your child is learning letters - let him stack the alphabet cans and put the ABC's in order. Spell his name with the cans. If your child has mastered the upper case letters, great! Open up the cans and get the lower case letter card from each can. Now he can practice matching the lower case card with the correct alphabet can. If your child has progressed to learn phonics and spelling, he can move on to the picture cards - 5 for each letter, and each card shows picture on one side, and the word spelled out on the other side. He can try to sort the pictures into the right letter can. There are endless games to play with your child, with letter recognition, sorting, phonics, and spelling. The only gripe I have is the size. I did not realize how bulky it would be. Each of the card is designed to attract kids with photos, so it cannot be too small – it's about three-quarters of the size of a poker card. Five cards need to fit into a cylindrical fake soup can. Then 26 of these soup cans have to fit into a box. So this toy alone takes up a huge chunk of storage space. I can only leave it on the floor in the playroom.
