The Pretend & Play Snack Shop can provide hours of creative learning activities. The set includes foods from the main food groups: grains, fruit, vegetables and dairy; a clock, crayons for creating signs, other small items as well as a portable fold-up window. The best feature to me is the fold up window. It is well made and it has lots of storage space encouraging organization, creativity and clean-up skills. The paper money and the coins can be matched with the printed cards with monetary amounts on them. This feature encourages math, reading and sharing skills. However, I feel the coins and the play food are too small for any child under 8 years old. They can easily be a choking hazard.
Love this play snack shop. My granddaughters had so much fun playing with it and acting out their characters. The set includes 106 pieces total. It includes: Tri-fold snack shop, write & wipe special board, write & wipe store name card, write & wipe 2 sided menu/sale card, bake goods, snack items, play fruit, play money, 2 sided money cards, clock with movable hands, open/closed sign, crayons, eraser, fold up wind. This all fold for an easy storage or to carry with you. the tri fold I don't think will hold up over the long haul but all the other play parts are very durable.
This is a cute little play set. There are a good amount of pieces, but the storage compartments holds them nicely. There is play money included that can help your child count, and learn to spend money at the store, (like they will do in the near future lol). The coins can help your child (if they don't already) learn the difference between pennies, dime, nickels, and quarters. There's only 1 dollar bills, but that's not a big deal because they are just learning. You can put up and change the pricing, and "Today's Special" as much as you want, because of the included crayons and eraser. My child has fun playing "store", and I think any young child would too.
I just recently received the Learning Resources Pretend & Play Snack Shop and it is awesome! It comes with a bunch off accessories too. It comes with about 28 "food" items, 5 crayons, a crayon eraser, 16 "sale" prices, ten dollar bills and a BUNCH of coins! It also comes with a bunch of different signs such as a clock that says "be back at", a sign that says "today's specials" and more. The yellow stand is double sided as well. One side has two flip down "shelves" for you to sit the food etc. The other side has three little pouches with velcro that are for "storage" "coins" and "bills." There is also a little drop down section that says "bakery" on it. The kit as a whole folds up for easy storage too. There were a couple of things that I would change such as laminate the "bills." They are made from a very thin paper and I would not be surprised if my daughter accidentally rips one. I almost ripped one just opening the packaging it came in. I have a laminating machine so I will be laminating them tonight. The food that comes with this set is VERY small. I was a little surprised when I opened the box. My daughter still loves it but this food is unbelievably small compared to all the other play food she has. Bottom line...I would buy this set again!
I gave this to my granddaughter as a Christmas gift and she absolutely loved it. I recorded her as she opened the package and she was elated. She was even more excited once she saw the back of the box and saw all of the things included in the box. I regret that I could not upload my video as it would have been a great testament; however, I was able to screenshot from the video the change in her expression. I think she brought each and every food item in the box around to each of us and would not pass until we took a bite of each one. She was so adorable. This item is very educational as it teaches about money, buying, selling, addition, subtraction, etc. I recommend this item for any young child who may be in their early learning stages.
