Of all the buildings in this set, this is probably my least favourite, the build quality and strength of the build is very lacking. There are some nice details, but the building just doesn't feel strong like some of the past sets. My real gripe is the person who decided that printing the instructions on black pages was a good idea. Lego please go back to white pages, black pages make it almost impossible to see what pieces you are using.
After a 5 year hiatus of staring at my Parisian café which i got for my 12th birthday, I decided to buy this set with all of my hard earned money. And it was 100% worth it. Fun, entertaining build and guarantee anyone who gets this set will love it. Thanks Lego!!!
Having built other large sets such as assembley sqaure and ninjago city gardens. I got this as my next large modular. I found this to be a more attractive looking build compared to the corner garage. I was pleasantly surprised with some great building techniques along the way. I did find an error in the instructions for the main entrance steps. These could at least be corrected in the digital instructions maybe? Good to see a few new elements being used. I was expecting it to be a quick build, being only around 3000 pieces, but took a few nights doing 1-2 bags each evening. The outside looks great with great detailed builds. Inside could do with a little more in a few places. But what is there is done well. Such as water cooler and even the coffee pots and stacked cups. There are some what I presume are shields/badges on the wall. These could be improved with silver/gold. I think addition of a filing cabinet or two would would add more to the office areas. If you enjoyed building assembley square, you will enjoy this one too. A great build for any Lego collector.
As always I really did enjoy building this kit - BUT - the instruction book was SO disappointing. It was printed on shiny black paper! So the darker coloured pieces (of which there were quite a few) just disappeared into the background and I found it very hard to see them. Why not print the instructions on basic white recycled paper. It doesn't need to be "snazzy" just practical.
I'm new to the modular sets and have charged through all the ones available. This was the first one I had to wait for and I would say it was worth it. Such an enjoyable build, some very fun techniques and some hidden aspects that made me chuckle. My only bug bear is that it was too quick to build, but that's just me. I always want Lego to last longer, but this one seemed a little small for the price. I'm sure it's not but it just seemed it. (still no where near the mark up of the star wars sets though). Definitely recommend for a fan of the creator modular sets, and a fan of doughnuts or an older kid as a first creation build.
