LEGO - Stranger Things The Upside Down 75810

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This set was very fun to build as it was intricate. The whole aspect of the upside down was demonstrated well in this set. The only small hiccup in the design was when both worlds had to be placed together. You truly needed to put in your weight to put it place. But once it's put together it is truly a centre piece of attention.

I can't deny that this is, mostly, a fun build. My issue with this set comes when joining the sides together - the buildings aren't very stable, so when it comes to using a little brute force to get the bits in to join the 2 sides, other bits fall off, that you can't get back in place unless you take the 2 sides apart, and then the same thing happens again. It's just not enjoyable working out where bits have fallen off from....

This is a fun build, with great detail and story telling. My only minor gripe which is often the case with many sets is the somewhat lazy symmetry. The trees on either side are identical builds which is a shame. There are opportunities for differences in the top and bottom half builds that are missed making the second half just a repeat of the first. It's still a great display piece and one of my favourites but some opportunities missed.

I am a fan of LEGO and Stranger Things so I was thrilled when I got this set for Christmas. Due to other reviews on the set, I was cautious when building this set and ended up finishing it in around 6 hours. I found that the set is very sturdy if all the pieces are pushed down firmly and things are attached right. The finished product was amazing and had so many cool details and features. Overall, I would say that this set is very unique and one of my favourites - I would definitely recommend this to others.

+ Very detailed set + Detailed & Accurate Minifigures + A build that definitely challenges you + A very sturdy build once put together - At the end, placing the two halves together is a major pain. If you are not careful bits & pieces may fall off. - Build can be repetitive, especially when having to build the upside down variation of the Byers house. -This set has too many stickers, for that price I'd expect printed pieces! Overall I enjoyed building this set. As a Stranger Things fan this was a must-have for me. The only frustrating part was when the two halves are put together.
