The laptop's fine, no better or worse than any other laptop in the same price range. The keyboard's fine, the build quality's fine, the screen is fine. Nothing to recommend it over any other brand, not much different about a Thinkpad overall. But purchasing from lenovo signs you up for endless spam, and every attempt to unsubscribe from one just leaves other streams of lenovo spam coming in. Newsletters, ads, surveys, requests to review. Dealing with lenovo is not worth it.
From a Linux users perspective the T14 Gen 2 AMD still has some minor bugs with the latest Linux kernel and bios. The USB ports power cycling does not work correctly and you're better off disabling the USB autosuspend in the kernel. The Realtek wifi card also requires proprietary drivers to work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect replacement (nay, UPGRADE) for an aged Dell laptop that was about to give up the ghost. I was tossed between the X13 and the T14 - I finally pulled the trigger on the T14 as I was able to get twice the SSD HD (512 GB) and twice the RAM (16 GB) as I was going to get with the X13, for about the same price. I can't say enough good things about this machine. The Ryzen 5 Pro is lightning quick from startup to shutdown. The 400 nit low power screen is great, even in bright light. I'm a modest user, spending most of my time in MS Office, Photoshop, and online. I even find myself using the nub for mouse navigation - a throwback to my old Thinkpad 760.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop appears to work well with Windows. Unfortunately, I want to use it with Linux, and the wireless chipset is so bleeding edge that I would have to compile my own kernel to be able to use it. The only way to get the wireless card to work under Linux right now appears to be to install a sketchy third party driver, which is very disappointing -- I thought Lenovo laptops would have better Linux support! I was able to get this to work, but I expect most regular users would be extremely baffled by the problem.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Powerful work horse for a decent price. The thinkpad keyboard is great as always. The screen is bright and clear. The only design issue i can think of is the usb-c power port/power cord. It looks very delicate and I don't think it would survive an accidental tug. I did hit a bluescreen the second day of using it. It probably was because i hadnt updated all the required drivers. After doing a full software/driver upgrade, i haven't face any issue. I am running Win10 now. Waiting for the certified linux release for this laptop.
