LitterMaid Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box, First Edition

this is my 2nd one. the first one lasted over 11 years. So in my books that is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased two of these for my cats, because my litter robot broke. After one week of use the entire house smells like cats, because the lid does not stay in place once the waste goes into the bin and I have more work cleaning these than a regular cat box. It is so loud that it scared my cats for the first 2 days, so I had to use regular litter boxes anyway. The waste bin is hard to get out to empty and broke after the second time emptying it out. A huge amount of litter wastes on the ground every time the rake empties into the bin and overall I am using way more litter than I did with my litter robot. I purchased another litter robot yesterday and will be returning these two Littermaids for a refund.

I thought this would be awesome when my husband came home with it..But after having it for about 3 months, I'm ready to throw it out the window. The lids fall off the containers, so when it cleans itself, it dumps onto the lid, which means, you gotta get your hands dirty and clean it yourself..so now I don't use the lids. It says to use only premium litter, which I do..and it still doesn't work right..it will pick up the clumps, but not the clumps from the urine. And the rake compresses it down when it goes over it, so it becomes like cement. And sometimes the clumps gets impaled on the rake, so it goes on a joyride, and ends up back in the litterbox. It says they sell their own litter, but I have never seen it in the store, I would love to try it with theirs. And when its time to buy the receptacles, know they do not come with the carbon pacs, those you also have to buy separate. I have to clean this thing everyday!! I will say this though, my cats reaction to the first time he seen it, and heard it...was priceless.

I love the Littermaid Litter Box, it cleans its self about 10 minutes after my cat leaves it. I highly recommend this to anyone who has a cat that hates cleaning the litter box. All you do after a week of the cat using it, is to take the receptical out and throw it away and put a clean receptical in and you are good for another week.

It works great unless there is a lot of stool in there. Then, it tends to get stuck while cleaning. If I scoop some of the stool manually then it works great. It definitely cuts down on the smell and I have three cats! Overall I am happy with the product.
