The bolts seem to be made of tin. They are hexagonal - not star or allen -- so you don't have tools lying around the house to substitute when they strip out. And they will strip out. The tool that comes with the purchase is a good idea but poorly made with soft metal. The pre-drilled holes were perfect on one of the chairs and almost impossible to line up on the other. We had to go get a coule of replacement bolts. The chairs look good.

The chairs are attractive and solid. We've not had a chance to use them much with this miserable April weather in New England. One of the reasons we got these particular ones is that they go flat so I can sunbathe on my stomach; it's hard to find lounge chairs that allow that. The assembly was pretty easy except for one of the bolts; the one that holds the arm to the main assembly. On both chairs the screw hole is a tiny bit off so it was very difficult to get the bolt screwed into it. We probably spent as much time on that as we did the rest of the assembly. It comes with a handy little ratchet which was clever and handy.

Assembly is needed, which would be fine if everything lined up as it should. Yes, I did not tighten all the screws until they were all placed. One screw I thought I was putting in and the head broke off. Thankfully there is another to hold the piece in place. I had planned to return them because there is a brace that is in the lumbar support area that was turned in towards the fabric which pressed into my back. NO WAY could someone sit comfortably in that. I was able to turn that brace to the proper angle though. They fit my family nicely but we are not giants. A larger person might be squished in it. They are fine for a few years use. I do not expect to get more than 2 years out of them so if I get more that will be bonus. DO NOT BUY THEM WITH A LONG TERM EXPECTANCY!

Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. These chairs are attractive, however, the middle legs are an inch too short. We have contacted the manufacturer, they have sent one set of replacement legs with the same issue. Waiting to see manufacturers response. Buy something else. Not worth a penny if you can't sit in them.

these look nice but the assembly was a nightmare--the pieces did not match up requiring drilling to make new holes anyone without a very handy hubby and lots of tools could never put these together that is the reason for the three stars because now that they are poolside they are great
