Maisto 1:24 AL Ferrari Enzo

I have been getting maisto model cars since I was a little boy. My only thing I didn't like was the quality seemed less durable from when I was a kid. Overall nice product and fun for both kids and adult. We both had fun work on the assembly. I think makes a great gift

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the Maisto Ferrari 1:24 Assembly Line Enzo Ferrari Model Kit for my 10-year-old son. OOB you get the Ferrari body (ours is bright red), the undercarriage/cockpit assembly, other various internal parts, seat backs, rear and front windshields, axle/wheel assemblies, various other smaller snap-on/friction lay-in parts, two sets of rims/wheels, wet-look tires, stickers, screws, instructions, and a screwdriver. My son is fairly adept at putting together models. He builds technical sets constantly. There were two snap-in step places where he needed a minor assist (door inlays and windshield), but, all-in-all, it was fairly easy for him (which we expected). While the stickers were cleanly cut and easy to remove from the sheet, my son struggled with the dashboard readout sticker. It's necessarily small and requires you to remove the sticker from the sheet and place a portion of the sticker on the tip of the screwdriver (or other small tool) to set the sticker in place in the dashboard and then push the sticker in place with the screwdriver tip to make sure it fully adheres to the dashboard. All pieces easily lay into recesses in the undercarriage and/or snap into the car body. The car body and undercarriage “marry” cleanly. The two included screws keep the undercarriage attached to the car body. Speaking of the car body, it's sleek, perfectly-painted, and applicable parts are fully and cleanly articulated (both the luggage compartment lid and butterfly doors lift smoothly and, if desired, stay in place) Wheels roll freely and smoothly. The model is nicely fabricated and relatively easy to assemble. Patience, good motor skills, and a willingness to take the time to follow the included full-color, easy to follow instructions are important (as is the case with most models). We did hit one snag in the process. One of the pins on which the front axle fits was broken. I think my son broke it and wouldn't admit to it. I superglued the pin in place, let it sit overnight to cure, and the axle slipped on and held in place. Not including the setback time, it took my son about 40 minutes to put the kit together. Once assembled, this Enzo Ferrari gleams like the real thing. He loved it and has it on permanent display in his room. Recommended Purchase?: Yes. The Maisto Ferrari 1:24 Assembly Line Enzo Ferrari Model Kit is a nicely-executed beginner model. Whether you're a model builder, a Ferrari lover, or both… old and young alike will really enjoy this kit. And, it's actually built well enough that, once assembled, if you really wanted to, you could “play” with it. I have zero reservations recommending this model as a project for a technically-adept kiddo/adult (who has patience, good motor skills, and is able to follow instructions to the letter) or as a co-project for kiddo and adult. The end result is definitely worth it. All in all, this is a solid four-star model, which in my book is great (as my five stars go beyond expectations). The Maisto Ferrari 1:24 Assembly Line Enzo Ferrari Model Kit does exactly what I expected from this set and, when finished, is display-worthy. Give it a shot, I don't think you will regret the purchase.
