I am so disappointed. In 40 years of tank ownership I have never had such a defective filter. It works great for a short period of time (cleans better than any internal filter I have owned) but then within an hour, two hours, 4 hours (it varies) after cleaning and putting it back in the tank it begins buzzing and rattling and gets louder and louder until it's so loud I have to just unplug it. I have literally had to take the filter out of the tank and unscrew and rescrew the unit together EVERY DAY to “maybe” get an hour of filtration before it begins buzzing again and I have to unplug it. I have had it less than 3 months. I am going to have to spend more money to replace this unit. Read reviews. I wish I had before buying . This buzzing issue has been going on for years based on many reviews on the internet and is not an isolated incident.
Avoid this filter. We've had two of them and both worked for about a month before they started buzzing uncontrollably. Too loud for the fish and too loud to be in the same room while they are on. Regular filter maintenance was performed and didn't fix the problem.
I'm using this in my 100 gallon holding tank for my winter home for my pond fish ! Very messy and this filter cleared it up in a few hours!
This turns problems into crystal clear water! Algae-filled green water, brown water, old food and plant bits stirred up when moving decoration, they all become stunning clear water. For big particles, five minutes and my tank is clear. For water discoloration due to plant decay or driftwood, one day. If I need to remove nitrogen sources, I can stir up substrate, scrape the glass, wipe the plants, and let the filter do all the work. A few minutes later, I then rinse the filter in the sink. (I use RO water to rinse before putting back in the tank as we have chloramine treatment on our water supply.) My fish and shrimp are never stressed due to particles in the water and the filter does an excellent job of collecting the microscopic algae that turn the water green. I lover that I can collect that gunk and the filet and quickly rinse it away instead of doing water change after water change to dilute. This allows me to have a tank in full sunglight, with fertilized plants, but not have an algae nightmare. I am literally designing my new tank around this filter.
This thing is awesome. I am using in my 120 aquarium on polisher and it is keeping it clear. The only problem is it works so well I have to change filter in it every couple of weeks and the polishing filters get pricey. So it works great just keep your check book handy.
