Open Box Masterbuilt 40" Outdoor BBQ Digital Electric Meat Smoker w/ RF Remote

We have cooked chicken and it was very good and moist. Cooking ribs today. It so easy to do. Planning to cook for Christmas Eve on the smoker. Recommend this product very much!!!

Bottom line is the food that comes out of this box is excellent. Getting there is not quite turn it on and walk away until its done. To begin, the quality of the unit varies in places from adequate to excellent. The very thin sheet metal with rivets works but be careful about denting. It goes together reasonably well, the one thing that did not work was the control panel fitting properly on top. No big deal, it secures by two screws in the back quite well, but the third top screw does not fit on mine. Does not affect operation. The wheels are a big plus for me. Note that you will need a place to lay the unit on its sides to put the wheels on where you wont dent or scratch the finish. Also note that it will take longer than they say and that you will need a wrench in addition to the screwdriver they say is all you need. Heats great, remote is great but the learning curve has taught me two critical things - if you are doing long term smoking, like six hours or more, put more than the one cup of water in that they say or you will run out (steam is critical to long term slow cooking for moisture). Also if you put in too many chips, they WILL NOT BURN and when you are done the food wont be smoked and the tray of chips will be overloaded and unburned. VERY different than smoking in my old propane smoker. Put few chips in but more often - which means you cant just turn it on and leave for the day. Im very happy with the unit and recommend it. Ribs are restaurant quality first time out. Ive read the reviews about unhappy folks so bought the service plan just in case, but so far very happy with the unit. Definitely do cover the water pan and the drip pan with aluminum foil!!!! Six hours of drippings really messes things up!!

Bought this for my husband for his birthday. It did smoke well but worked only a few months before controller broke. Masterbuilt replaced the smoker with a slightly different model. Again it broke after a few months. This time they sent just the controller. That one broke also and now Masterbuilt no longer responded to our calls. So we bought a better, more expensive $200 controller online (not from Masterbuilt) and now it works fine. Oh and don't bother with the extended warranty. That warranty requires you to mail the smoker to them, at your expense, and not to use the original box. Bottom line, buy a different brand

received it as a present last summer- used it 'twice', put it away for the winter- tried using it this spring... DOA... it turns on, then after 30sec's trips the circuit breaker... tried contacting masterbuilt via email '3' times... not a reply.. DONOT buy

Smoker did not work out of the box. Assembled smoker and turned it on for the curing process. Power light went on but after 1 hour the smoker did not heat up. Called Masterbuilt Customer Service. After a lengthy hold time I got an unenthusiastic rep that asked if I was using an extension cord, I was. Was told to plug smoker directly into outlet. One hour later, still no heat. Returned smoker to local Walmart. Waiting for a new smoker (different brand) to be delivered.
