I've used the Imitation Butter Flavoring in several recipes all of my adult life. The Butter Extract is no substitute for the imitation flavoring. You cannot use the equivalent amount of the Extract in your recipes and McCormick doesn't even offer suggestions for the amount of the Extract to be used in lieu of the Imitation Flavoring. They do however warn you to not use near an open flame
This is a cornerstone ingredient to a family recipe that I make often - poppyseed bread. My granddaughter loves it so much that she makes the recipe, too. Lately, I've been unable to find the butter extract in our local stores - hope you're still making it!
I was surprised to see the bad reviews for the Butter extract. I was looking at this site to check on the expiration dates for extracts and came across the reviews. I am making some sugar cookies for Christmas using my favorite icing recipe that calls for vanilla, almond and butter extract. It is the best icing I've used. The butter just gives it a really nice, extra flavor to it. Subtle. Anyway, If I read the date correctly, it expired 9/20. I will still use it. I opened it and it was a really strong, good buttery scent. Have a tsp. left. I will buy it again. I have also used it in pancake mix. Love it. Merry Christmas!
I hate it I just want to know why you change it when it was a very good product that your customers like it was called Butter nut flavor... Why Fix something that's not Broken ? I don't want to hear sorry you feel that way .just bring the butter nut back andale your customers happy .all the responses and reviews I did on this. I never go a response back .but sorry you are not pleased with the the Butter extract ...the taste is not the same n the smell when you bake it smells bad .who ever the idea it was to change it they should take stock in all the reviews ..they are way down and the taste buds were so wrong .Just Bring the Butter Nut Back .and make your customers happy again .
I've used the butter flavor for years in my cornbread and cakes. Today I purchased this new product and I was very disappointed it has a bitter tangy taste now and it never did before. Please go back to the original formula it's perfect! Thank you for time.
