I use a floral cooler located in the garage for fermenting beer and wine, and for drying meat. This device allows me to monitor temperature and humidity from inside the house. The humidity reading from the base and the remote sensor were both 5% below actual, using the wet salt test, which is typical and quite acceptable accuracy for a device of this type. I simply add 5% to the readout. By the way, my nickname is not the auto-populated appleisawesome that I could not change or delete. Applesucks would be more accurate.
I bought this device so I could monitor the humidity in my chicken coop because too high of humidity in cold weather can be detrimental to the chickens' health. I ultimately chose this brand/model because of the size of the screen, I thought it would make it easier to see from outside of the coop, thus avoiding entering the coop. Well, I didn't read the description close enough; it comes with the home base unit plus a remote. The remote is what goes outside and the bigger unit stays indoors, and the remote transmits the outdoor temp/humidity to the indoor unit. This set up is actually really cool because I can see what the temp/humidity is from my sunroom and without going out to the coop! The maximum distance the remote can transmit data between the indoor base unit and the outdoor remote is ~ 100 ft, and luckily the coop is just a hair under that so the remote is able to transmit the info to the base unit. Keep in mind that if you will be using the remote outdoors and in cold, winter weather you need to use a lithium AA battery; otherwise, with an alkaline battery the remote quits transmitting to the base unit when the outdoor temp drops below 32 degrees F. I highly recommend this unit for anyone interested in monitoring humidity levels, indoor or out.
Bought this unit little over 2 months ago, been working perfectly.Outdoor temp within 1-2 deg. of the Weather Channel.:)
Had it 2 months; working fine. Outdoor display is small. Indoor display alternates between indoor & outdoor temperature.
I was disappointed that the unit lacks the accuracy that I expected. There is about a 5% difference between the main unit and the remote unit, when standing side-by-side, so I don't know the real humidity. Plus, who knows, maybe each of them is off even more. So, I'm suspecting that the reading could be as much as 10% humidity off - which is a lot in my mind.
