My husband and I have been scoping out dollhouses for our daughter here and there and came across this one at the local used children's store. I sent a picture message to my husband and we decided to wait on it. Later that afternoon, my daughter (3.5) fell at the playground and was beyond consolable about the new bump on her head. I suggested we pick up the dollhouse then to up her spirits and he called and paid for it over the phone right away. When we went it not pick it up, I told her that it was going home with us and it was hers now, to which she exclaimed "Oh, wow! That will be mine?!" and proceeded to do a little dance. It came already assembled and it's size is perfect, but the dolls we had at home were either too big (Barbies) or too small (those little rubbery princesses). I found the instructions for it online easily and went to a local toy store to see if they had the appropriate sized dolls today. I found two sets that looked comparable, but I called the toll free number to Melissa & Doug to ask which one "goes" with it. The representative was very helpful and suggested the "Family Wooden Doll Set" and explained that while it would work ok, the "Victorian Doll Family" was slightly taller and that set was geared towards the 6 and up age range. I put them all inside the house and I'm excited to see her reaction when she comes home! The only down side to this set is that there are no additional accessories with it. Children's beds, a refrigerator, more cabinets, a television, a toy box, etc. would be nice. If you came out with a coordinating accessory pack, I would be thrilled and order it right away! I also don't like how the stairs end up right against the wall wherever you place them, but thats probably just my OCD...

My daughter is 3 1/2 and just received this dollhouse as a gift for Christmas. It is beautiful and so easy to put together. Like another reviewer shared, dolls are sold separately, but similarly, my daughter happily uses her polly pockets - they're a perfect match! I'm looking forward to years of imaginative play!

I just purchased this for my daughter's 3rd birthday and she loves it! It is a nice size for a younger child. It came fully furnished but dolls must be purchased separately. I didn't realize this until I got home, however my seven year old daughter did not mind sharing her Polly Pockets which I must say are a good fit for this cute pink and purple house! It was a snap to put together and all you need is a phillips head screwdriver. I had it together in about a half hour. I shopped around and this dollhouse is a great value!
