A) I haven't golfed in three years but I imagine these shorts would be ideal for golfing. B) I have, however, worn them regularly for nearly every other activity - hikes, cycling, travel, casually, etc. These have been my go-to hiking shorts for the past two years. Most casual bike rides too plus multiple overnight bike-camping trips. C) The fit is perfect, the material is perfect, the stretch is perfect, the inside waistband is hardcore and keeps the shorts from ever shifting around (i think its intended to keep your golf shirt tucked in). Super comfortable. Not baggy and not slim. Nicely fitted. D) The ONLY knock is that the front pockets are pretty shallow. But that's it. I'm fairly certain i've spent an entire week+ in these and didn't bother to put on other shorts. Highly recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I love the shorts but they are definitely cut different then the match play shorts I have purchased in the past. I bought one size larger then I previously had and they were still way to small.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Match Play pants so much as a golf trip to Scotland finally pushed me to buy some true golf pants. After loving them so much I immediately looked to order the shorts as summer approached. I agree with many reviewers that the pockets are just too small. I get they are golf shorts, but the pants are made for golf to and have excellent front pockets. I will not order shorts anymore, may start ordering the pants and having them turned into shorts if I don't find a viable performance short offering with better pockets going forward.
Under Armour, you are neglecting the tall community by anything shorter than a 12 inch inseam. I bought these because previous shorts have had a 10 inch inseam so I really thought the 1 inch would be the difference maker. It is not. These pants are uncomfortably short for me, I am 6'5/200lbs. The quality of these pants seem great and they look great, however, I can't wear these. I will most likely be returning this and holding off until they make some golf shorts that are longer.
First, big complaint you will see is the depth of the pockets. I actually agree the designers at UA with the shorter pockets in theory. That is, who honestly wants to shove their entire hand into their pockets on a hot day and go dig for a ball marker, tee or ball. Honestly, with plastic tees, you only need one the entire round. So, I totally agree with the depth for my style of play, in that I carry one ball marker, one plastic tee and a ball. This is a golf short and not a cargo short, so again I am a fan of the depth. If you carry lots of stuff and devices in your pockets, then you definitely need a different short. The fit is very good, conforming while flexible and of good quality. My only complaint, is the material used inside the pockets is not slick, which is needed for the shorter front sockets, but try getting a golf ball out of the rear pockets is impossible without completely turning the pocket inside out. The rear "inside" pocket material should be of slicker material and not the same material you use on the shorter front pockets.
