We live in Connecticut, so we are being realistic when we think about how long we expect this canopy to last. When there is wind, we pull the canopy off & bring it inside. We will also store the fabric inside for the winter. If you really think about it, this costs barely more than those EZ open canopies that they sell in sporting goods. We have one of those that we use w/ our RV and we consider ourselves lucky if we get 2-3 years out of it. I'm not fooling myself into thinking this will last forever because it was only $150. A friend of mine had a heavy duty $400 one and the wind took that one away as well. Just remember... preventative measures. I do wish that this one came w/ mosquito netting. I bought 8 sheer curtains & hung them from shower hooks on the inside rail, but they don't zip shut. All in all I love my new outdoor room.

This canopy is nice! However, the legs are not very strong or sturdy. This is the 2nd canopy I have purchased. The first one was destroyed on July 4th by a storm we had that had rotation, but not a tornado. When I saw that this canopy was 1/2 off what I had paid the first time I decided to get it. This time we have concreted the legs in the ground & bolted it to the concrete. Hopefully this will secure it. Otherwise, we like the canopy itself!

I've read some of the reviews where customers have had problems with their canopy. Even though I have had mine only 3 months I'm satisified with it so far. Sure it's supposed to be an all weather canopy but if you read the owners manual it states that inclement weather may damage the canopy. If you follow all instructions in the manual the product should last awhile. Last week we had a strong storm which produced wind gust of 50 + miles an hour. I had used lag bolts to secure the canopy to my deck like the manual said to do and it survived with no damage at all. The manual also states that when it rains and puddleing occurs that you should go out and push up on the canopy so the water wil not build up and the weight of the water will not tear the canopy. We'll see how I feel about the canopy this time next year but for now I'm satisfied. Just follow all directions in the manual about cleaning, securing, and care of the canopy and the problems should be minimal. The only fault I have with his canopy is that it does not come with an insect screen. So far other than that I'm satisfied.

Bought this for our deck--beautiful once set up, even saw it in the Better Homes & Garden magazine a week after putting up. 1 1/2 weeks after seeing it in the magazine, we had a thunderstorm and it blew it over and broke the bars and now we are out $160. What a shame considering it has BHG's name on it. Don't waste your money.

After reading negative reviews I wasn't going to purchase this, but I went to Walmart to take a look at the real thing I instantly brought it home. I did a general google search on these canvas products, the thing is, they DO mold if you don't rinse off the dirt/debris at the top regularly. Canvas doesn't grow mold on their own, it's the dirt and water mixture that causes mold. fallen leaves will cover up the dirt and mold inside even with scorching sunshine that should've dried up everything. This completely makes sense and I'll need to pay attention to that. We have an existing patio so we didn't anchor it to the ground. It's a bit wobbly if we shake it, so I doubt it'd endure strong wind. Luckily in this part of CA we don't have stormy weathers in the summer, we only plan to use from May to October when it's all sunshine and no rain. Overall, I can see why some people gave it a negative, but my experience so far had been all positive (keep it away from strong wind and keep it clean at the top). Also, I have realistic expectation for a product that cost just $148. It's structure is definitely weaker than the weakest house by 3 little pigs. I needed this b/c planting trees takes too long to get some shade, building patio cover is a lot more expensive ($4,500) and it's a permanent structure that we cannot change our mind later. For $148 to get instant shade it's well worth the money for me (it cost nearly 100 just to buy a good looking umbrella).
