These tires are barely 3 years old and all have serious cracks in the sidewalls around the perimeter of the tire. I assumed that Michelin would have a recall to cover this obvious quality issue, however it appears they do not. The tires are not safe to drive on in their current condition, leaving no option but to replace them at my expense. Sad and unfortunate. I will not be purchasing Michelin tires going forward.
I purchased a new 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 with Michelin LT265/70R17 tires mounted. I am still driving on these tires with 117200 miles so far and enough tread remains for another 15000 miles. I would like to locate another set of 4 tires to replace these when the time comes. I highly recommend Michelin LTX tires. Frequent rotation, no flats, even tread wear and long life.
I have the second set of Michelin LTX tires on my van motor home. The first set had more than 70,000 miles on them and had never had a problem. I almost never needed to add air. I repalced them not because they were worn out, but I plan to drive my B model van for several more years. When my F350 needed tires, I insisted on Michelin LTX as I knew I would be satisified with the finest tire you can put on a light truck.
As many of us have, I have bought many tires in the past. As a rule if they were 40000 mile tires, I would get about 35000 before I felt they were unsafe, not because of tread depth, but because they felt unsafe . I bought these tires because I met someone who had them on 4 trucks and had over 100000 miles on each. Best tire I ever bought. I too, average 100000 miles per set and I love the way they feel. I actually replace them because of tread depth and not because they feel unsafe, because they never do feel unsafe.
I was looking through my glove compartment and found a reciept for the michelins on my jeep cherokee and to my amazement, I bought them 5 years and 53,000 miles ago.....I promptly got out of the jeep and proceeded to examine the tires and they looked like they still have a lot of tread left! We live in Pa. and get all kinds of weather and these are the best overall tires I have ever owned. I remembered that the tires were more expensive when I bought them, but now I won't buy anything else.......
