These tires changed the entire feel of my cars suspension, braking, and handling. The change was immediate and dramatic. I read every article, review, and tire test from every resource available before purchasing a set for my 2013 Kia Optima SXL I'm amazed these tires are highly UNDERRATED!!!!
Just had to put on a second set of these as they had what the tire store called a "catastrophic failure." I went with the same tire based on the options and the recommendation of the tire store. These tires only had 3/32" after a mere 32 months and 24,000 miles. I had to get Michelin involved in the warrantee process. The tires ride great but don't last. All four tires wore out to 3/32" even with 5000 mile rotations. Any owner of these tires needs to keep an eye out for early wear. We came from a set of A/S 2's that "Chunked" and only got 8000 miles out of those. I sure hope Michelin takes a look at these tires that just came off.
Not too happy with these tires. Mine also melted around the edges after a road trip this past weekend. I'm worried they might explode if I continue driving my car. My air pressure and alignment were perfect before my trip. My dealer thinks it might be a defect in the tires. He hasn't seen anything like it before. I hope Michelin recalls these tires. The center of the tires look new, but edges are completely melted. Less than 2 years old and only have 9000 miles on the tires. Is there a recall for these tires Michelin?
I have bought Michelins for a long time - on and off - but when I discovered the Pilot Sport and Sport A/S, I never hasitated when I needed new tires. I had up to six cars at one time and can't count the number of times I had these installed, so I say five times for my 3 remaining cars. Probably more... They hold the road perfectly, are quiet and last a long time, even with 'sporty' driving. The only thing I may be missing is that there may be a good tire out there as well, but when time comes to replace I just can't take a chance and test another tire. I go for the sure bet: the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. It is a tire that never gives you a feeling of buyer's remorse. You even feel good about spending the money to buy it. Can't say more.
I purchased a set of four tires for my '08 Scion TC. It was the second set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires for this car. The typical tread life of the tire has been about 30-35k miles. The life would be longer if they didn't wear so quickly on the sides for whatever reason--it has stumped my mechanic every time I bring them in for rotation. Other than that, I have plenty of grip on dry roads and in the rain--compared to other tires I have used in the past. Road noise is minimal, and I am overall pleased with them. I plan on buying another set in a few months when I roll over the 100k mile mark.
