The second season of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteres continues to follow the personal and professional life of glamourous, sharp-witted Phryne Fisher: a socialite, aristocrat and private detective. Her cases include ghostly soldiers; pirates and buried treasure; murder on the airwaves; and a deadly Christmas in July. She continues to work with Detective Inspector John "Jack" Robinson (Nathan Page), who was reluctant to work with Miss Fisher at first but has begun to rely on her abilities, and Constable Hugh Collins (Hugo Johnstone-Burt), whom she uses for inside police information regarding cases. Bert (Travis McMahon) and Cec (Anthony Sharpe) continue to help with some of the more unpleasant aspects of her investigations and Dorothy "Dot" Williams (Ashleigh Cummings) remains Phryne's faithful companion. While she lives in the lap of luxury now, Phryne will never forget her humble beginnings, nor will she rest until she solves her sister Janey's disappearance.
