i was looking for a new bike online that i could order and walmart had a great selection for low prices as usual. i saw this bike and liked the design and looks and it said it was made of sturdy material so i went along with it. i had to put it together which took all of about 5 hours if you dont know what your doing because it does NOT come with instructions. the gears dnt shift and the brakes are disoriented. im not a bike mechanic so i have no idea how to fix it. this bike is the heaviest thing available so if u live in a hilly area.. DONT EVEN TRY. The handle bars fall off every 2 minutes due to cheap screws. just dont buy it. if its looks too good to be true....it is.

This is Great for the Price . It comes with name brand parts that are worth more then the bike it self. I do agree with another review that it is better to buy the bike disassembled . Also, you should take it to a bike shop to get Tuned-up . Once you have that in order you can almost ride every where. I have been riding the bike for weeks now and it holds up Great !! This is a great bike for the value !! Only down fall is that it weights 40 pounds , but for the price you can't complain.

I have owned this product ever since it came out for sale and not once did I have any troubles at all. I don't know why people say that it breaks it has ran smoothly since I first rode it. I got it pre-assembled so I got it home and read the Manuel i did every step and read the saftey tips and adjusted it for my height (64") and tighted all nut and bolts and rode it ever since!!!!!!!!!! GREAT BUY!!!!!!!

Ok. I have read the reviews for this bike and I must say they are somewhat true. This bike is by all means not for heavy mountain biking unless you upgrade it extensively, but it has some very good aspects to it. First off, having upgraded to this bike from other poor bikes ( Mt.Fury Roadmaster, DXR-AL) this bike rides like a dream. Especially if you consider what I do, which is use it for riding around town, and to deliver my papers, It holds up very well. One note about this bike, is that you should try to replace the Rear Derailleur as soon as you get it. The derailleur is a Shimano Tourney, which is a very bad part. Upgrading to a Shimano Altus would probably be a good investment. Next is the fork. My forks dust caps blew out after hitting a couple of large bumps in the sidewalk. This made no effect on the quality it gave, as the fork has still held up for me, and still gives suspension. I am replacing it for a bit better of a fork though. Shocks are next. I have heard people say the shocks on this bike are the worst thing you can ever use sometimes. Far from it. They hold up great under the pressure I have put them under, and I am not replacing them anytime soon. Gear Shifters next. They work great! Now, I bought my bike from the walmart around here, and the gear shifter and derailleurs were actually tuned correctly. I have had no problems except a little bit of jolts. Easily fixable. Finally, Brakes. The disc brakes are a dream. I dont even use the back brake anymore. once you get these brakes set up, they work perfectly. Overall - This bike is, as once said, not by any means for the heavy mountain biker. but if you use it, like i do, for just getting around town, riding with friends, or doing an early morning job, its perfect in almost every aspect.

This is a wonderful bike for the price. The only thing I don't like about it is that the actual bike has no chain guard on the pedal sprocket like in the display picture. And shipping for the site-to-store took way too long. Walmart actually extended my arrival time which made me miss an event I wanted to use the bike for. But other than those things, I really love the Mongoose XR250. It's worth every penny!
