great
The solar panel works really well. It does need mostly direct sunlight to work to factory specs. If using this in the deep woods it may not work fully. This is why I only gave it 4 stars. I will have mine set up near an opening in the woods and the unit has enough cord length(10ft+/-) to run it where there is direct sun.
I have this set up on a Moultrie Game Spy I-45 and it has been running the camera for 3 days now with about 4-6 hours or so of full sun. It works well. Just plug it into the bottom and mount it with mounting brackets (included).
I have over 20 Moultrie trail cameras and use these power panels for most of them. For a product that is left out in the weather 24/7/365 it holds up well. I was replacing 6 to 8 Size D batteries per camera about every 45 to 60 days. With this product I install new batteries at the beginning of the season and leave them in for the year. Please note: You MUST keep the panel located in an area that can get direct sunlight for 4+ hours per day to fully charge the panel. If you plan to use this in deep woods on a trail, I doubt it will keep charged. I try to face all of mine in a SW direction in an open field. I attach the power panel bracket directly to a tripod for simplicity. I have attached them to trees, which is "ok" at best. Sap from the tree runs down on the bracket, cords, and power panel. It becomes a big mess. To the best of my knowledge this power panel will only work with Moultrie brand cameras.
I bought this thinking that it would save me money, but the opposite happened. I hooked it up to my Moultrie trail camera and 5 minutes after I have it hooked up it fried my camera. I put brand new batteries in it to double check and yep, my camera is shot. So if you want to pay $55 for a solar charger to ruin a $130 camera, this is the product for you. I wish I could put 0 stars but it won't let me.
