There is no Velcro or attaching mechanism. So then the relaxation of the neck becomes more work because you're having to hold it. Outside of that it does do a massage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had 4 people try this. Me, my husband, my son, and my mom. My 67 year old mom was the only one that liked it and I ended up giving it to her. My biggest complaint is that it's uncomfortable. The straps are awkward to place your arms in and you have to hold the straps or wear them otherwise the massager falls off. My other big complaint is that it hurts!! This squeezes your upper back/shoulders so tight that it hurts. It feels like you're getting pinched, not massaged. Me, my hubby, and my son all agreed on that. My mom liked it though. She thought it was somewhat painful, but “in a good way”, whatever that means, ha! I'm giving 3 stars because the 3 people that didn't like this, doesn't have any kind of neck or back issues. The one person that does, enjoyed it. I did like that there are different massage motions, a heating option, and strength level buttons.
