This is a very good phone. The UI is friendly enough. It takes getting used to, but soon it becomes second nature. The only complaint I have is the limited personalization on the phone. For the home screen, you can either have four shortcut icons w/ search, email, and calender entries or you can have shortcuts for your four favorite contacts which will allow easy access for calling and messaging them. Other than that, you're left with a plain screen. The browser is pretty good. I didn't find it difficult at all to use it. It's very reliable, and it's one of the best features of the Nokia 5800. Many people have complained about the resistive touchscreen, and I understand where they're coming from. It is very different from the capacitive touchscreens on the iphone and android phones. In spite of this, I like it. I don't mind double tapping when making a selection. Actually I prefer that to accidentally opening an app when I might just be trying to scroll through the menu. My biggest complaint is about the operating system as a whole. It is very buggy. I have had to completely reset this phone three times so far. I would suggest this phone only for people who are willing to troubleshoot regularly. Those who don't and still insist on owning this phone: be careful about installing apps and themes. Stick with the stuff at the Ovi store. Basically, this phone is great if you don't mind having to work around some of its quirks. I've had it for a few weeks, and in spite of having to troubleshoot a few times, I still really like this phone. Of course I'm still aware that there are plenty of people who won't.
i am enjoying using this phone.it is best for it's price. for gps service you need to have a data plan. otherwise it's amazing.
The Phone has a lot of great features and works great. Call quality is clear and the web browser loads most pages. In my case the phone was great being with T-Mobile I was not at the end of my contract but I needed a new phone and this was a great for what you get. One regret is the 3g coverage does not work with T-mobile. T-Mobile operates on a 1700/2100 mhz 3G frequency (I know many people have no idea what that means but just don't expect 3g with t-mobile), where as the 5800 operates on 850/1900, which is the frequency AT&T Operates at and most of the rest of the world. The OVI Maps (navigation) is really pretty much useless for putting in an address and finding most business's, but sometimes it will find what I am looking for, normally I have to search something like google and copy it into the map and even then sometimes it doesn't find an address (hoping there are many upgrades to this software in the near future to make it so the "Navigation Edition" is more navigation friendly). Other than the 3g (wouldn't have this problem on another carrier) and the navigation bugs (when the navigation finds an address it works well) I love the phone and really enjoy its features, it is a good phone for those of us who want to keep your cheaper plan on T-Mobile, but don't have to have 3G yet. Or if you're on At&T you won't have any 3G problems. Oh Ya the camera takes pretty clear photos also and the flash works surprising well.
I always love Nokia. As per expectation this is a good smart phone. Unfortunetly, this phone have small touch screen. Also, navigation is not very good. You have to plan your trip and update location on internet and sync it with navigation system. If you are on road and decide to go some other location suddetly than this navigation system will not help you at all. You should have data service on your phone to make it work. It would be great if they keep database of locations on phone. Nokia does not more choice of web applications like Blackberry or iphone. Best feature of this phone is wireless lan and camera. May be I am expecting too much but this is what I was looking for ..
Great phone, very happy to bought it, thanks to Wal Mart that reduce the price
