Norpro 1 Gal.Ceramic Kitchen Composter - Red

I have an identical crock but was looking for one with a larger capacity. the description said it held a gallon but in fact, it's only two quarts. The description of the size is very misleading. Now I have two identical crocks. (It seemed like too much trouble to return). The product is fine, but the description is very misleading and it has not changed since I called to complain. I've always been happy with products I've gotten from Gardeners Supply before.

The crock is very handy to have sitting on the counter next to the sink to collect food waste. It looks nice too. I use the crock filters and compost bags to keep it clean and odor free. This system is much better than putting food waste in the trash that sits there and gets smelly.

I have bought two of these, both in red, and they are a perfect fit for a small kitchen. I also like the fact that it forces me to empty the compost every other day or so; otherwise, i would leave it sitting around until mold forms! These crocks do not stain and are very easy to clean.

My wife liked that fact that it fit into our kitchen decor without being obtrusive. I like the fact that we are saving all of that good kitchen stuff for use in composting. The only downside - since we are in the middle of canning season, it fills up quick! But it looks great and there are no odors or flies.

This ceramic crock fits nicely on a countertop. The lid fits well, and has a filter to eliminate odors. The only negative is the handle, which just slides over the holders on the crock. The handle easily comes off the holders when you least expect it. When I have to take the crock to the compost bin, I support it from the bottom in case the handle comes off.
