GOOD/Great Taste and consistency. Which I'd known Walmart carried this-it's a lot cheaper here. This is similar to an item required on an auto-immune diet I just started but it's much cheaper at Walmart.. Same ingredients with addition of chickory root fiber. I add cinnamon powder for more flavor; sometimes salt & pepper; sometimes a bit of maple syrup.
I had been using the Olympian Labs vanilla pea protein for over 6 months. Just opened a new container this week. Not only had they changed the exterior of the container, the product is vastly changed. It looks like just the pea protein itself, no flavoring. Before the product was a pale yellow, very fine textured and powdery. Now the product is almost a dark tan, rather a lumpy texture and does not have the "old" product taste. BEWARE!
I've been using this product on a daily basis and have found it to be satisfying and fulfilling my needs when I lift weights. The taste has a good vanilla flavor. I use 1 scoop at a time which gives me 25 grams of protein. I add cinnamon, coconut oil, a fruit and ice and I'm all set. The only things I can add are: the label says 470 mg of sodium which is too much. There's 4 grams of sugar alcohol which is too high (from Xylitol). I've been counting the servings each time I start a new container and in each case there is less than 20, which is what the label says. The last one I counted was slightly over 19, but never 20 or more. As far as the Amino Acid content, the label says: "Typical Amino Acid Profile of Pea Protein", and underneath gives you the mgs for each item. But note that it doesn't say: "Typical Amino Acid Profile of Pea Protein per serving". I called up to have it clarified and the response was that it's per serving. That said, the amino acid profile is among the highest I've seen for a vegan protein powder, but I wonder if they skimp on their servings per container are they also enhancing the amino acid profile? After all, other Pea Protein products show much less. Also note that the last time I ordered this product from Swanson, they sent me one with a newly designed label. Comparing the new one to the old one, I noticed a lot of changes, some good, some bad. So you have to be vigilant and observant. Overall, it's a good product that I will continue to buy unless something comes along that's better or the price gets too high.
I had been taking whey protein for years. I recently switched to vegtable powders and most did not seem effective, (did not keep my blood sugar stable) would not mix, tasted terrible or all of the above. Then OL vanilla bean to the rescue! I am VERY pleased with this product.
I've used many protein powders in my life. If you've used any other powdered protein products before, you'll be right at home with this one. It works well and tastes great. On top of that, there's the added benefit of being hypoallergenic and vegan! Not to mention that it nutritionally surpasses every other protein powder on the market in carbs, fat, calories, and sugar. If you're a health conscious individual (which, let's face it, you're trying to buy protein powder so you probably are), then this product is an excellent choice for you.
