I received the Samsung Galaxy Tablet Note 8.0 - OtterBox Defender Series Case exactly as advertised; in fact the case arrived days early. The case is of high quality and fits my Samsung Galaxy Tablet perfectly; including the port for the tablet stylus. The case has added features, like rubber “feet” that help stabilize the tablet on a flat table while viewing. The total price of $7.67 (which included shipping) makes the purchase an extreme value. The case does add to the total weight for carrying the tablet, however for my purposes the added weight is not a significant issue. The well-made display cover has a hinged bracket inside that nicely holds the table in a vertical or horizontal position. The only very minor issue is that the advertisement says something about a “belt holster”… which the case does not have; not an issue at all for my needs. For the more than reasonable price, I can highly (without reservations) recommend this case.

I was thrilled to hear Otterbox was finally offering a case specifically for the Note 8 (if I have any complaints, it would be that Otterbox isn't quicker on the draw, leaving me to throw money away on desperately inferior cases while I wait). My tablet has quickly become my lifeblood on set, but that is a very dangerous place for something so expensive and I have a terrible habit of dropping my personal electronics. A lot. It is a huge piece of mind for me to know that it will be well protected now from all the crazyness life will throw at it. The case comes in 4 pieces. First there's the hard plastic case that completely envelops the tablet in two halves (they snap together very firmly). The half that goes over the screen has a permanently attached sheet of clear plastic. There are holes cut for the light sensor and 'home' button. If I had any trepidation about this case, the screen cover was it. I bought this tablet specifically for the S pen and the wonderful wacom technology that came with it, any screen protector that interfered with that would be instantly rendered useless. So let me gladly report that it has no affect on the functionality of the stylus whatsoever! And it keeps my precious screen extra safe compared to regular screen protectors that are just large stickers. I have also noticed no difference in the response from the 'back' and 'menu' buttons even though they too are under plastic. The third part is a very thick rubbery layer that is wrapped around the hard plastic. It has holes cut to correspond with the speakers, S pen, a small hole I assume to be for a feature found on the phablet version of the Note 8 not available in North America, the remote sensor, and the back camera. All of these holes are very deep and will definitely keep the exposed areas safe from scuffs and chipping should the tablet be dropped. There are also raised buttons to push down on the real power and volume controls hidden below. I will admit it takes quite a bit more force to press them and it does get a bit tiring. Finally there are covers for the mini usb port and the headphone jack that flip open and fit very firmly when shut so they won't randomly pop open and will keep the ports sealed off from any debris while closed. The cover for the usb works fine for me, opening easily enough, but the headphone jack is another matter! I practically have to make time in my schedule to pry that *bleeper* open. Though this is likely a production variance and your experience may vary. The final piece is a separate piece of hard plastic that can snap (very securely) onto the front of the tablet supplying further protection for the screen while in transit. It also functions as a stand with a hinged bit in the middle that pops up to support the tablet. This provides four different angles of view, and more if you get creative. It has proven very stable for me. If there were anything I could change about this case it would be these two: There is absolutely no access to the sd card port which means taking everything apart and putting it all back together again every time you need to switch cards. Given the deceptively small amount of memory the Note 8 has, I've found sd cards to be a necessity. (Once I even found myself swapping cards in the middle of a blizzard - long story - which would've been a nightmare with a complicated case like this.) The other thing I would change is to have the stand/cover piece be attached. It can be a bit annoying having to keep track of a separate part, even if it does snap on. That doesn't mean I always remember to and it feels a bit silly having to look after the thing I got to look after my tablet. It would also increase stability to have the stand attached to the thing it's propping up. My overall impression: The materials appear very high quality and there are no weak points I've found that would leave the tablet vulnerable - while still maintaining regular function and usability. I feel extremely secure with this case and only wish I'd had it sooner, there are a few gouges that could have been avoided! That said, it is very large, very heavy, and has a rough texture that gives it a nice grip but gets in the way of quickly slipping it in and out of pockets/pouches. This is definitely a specialised brand of case for people with very certain needs (much like the tablet it carries) and would probably not be well received by the average person who just wants something svelte and easy for casual handling.

I own a Otterbox for my Galaxy S4 and for my Galaxy Note 8, I will never own another brand as long as Otterbox maintains thier current standards. I am a law enforcement professional and also served for four years in the United States Marine Corps, why does that matter? Because I am not gentle on my phones or tablets.....not at all. And the Otterbox has never let me or my equipment down, it'll take what you throw at it and come back smiling. The cases (Defender) are a bit bulky but I like knowing I have something sturdy in my hand, you can feel the quality. I have most recently got my wife to convert to Otterbox for her Iphone too and see no difference in the quality. Otterbox is costly but worth every penny, you get what you pay for!

Easy installation. Everything snapped together without a hitch. Once intstalled the case feels sturdy. With the stand/cover in place is really protects the screen. I wish the rubber surround extended to cover the stylus area, and the center screen button, as in my "Gumdrop" case. Also would want a lens cover/protector for the rear camera. Alli n all, a well thought out and executed case.

I'm a geocacher and a SciFi fan this means I need a case that is easy to use, offers a high degree of protection and versitility. The defender fills that bill, I read and surf the net in my house then down load information for caching and head for the outdoors. The case offers protection and doesn't interfere with data entry of viewing the screen I like the fact that the hard cover doubles as a stand which allows me to easily watch movies and TV on my device. Set it up on a counter and you can show slideshow and pictures at a gathering then pack it up and your off. I would like it if they came out with an Amour version for a note 8, But hey I really am glad they have the defender series
