I did my homework before I bought a canopy and was very happy with the Ozark Trail. Took it to the beach and it stood up to some strong wind while other canopies were blowing away. Easy to set up and take down. Would suggest the optional sun/wind wall as it was easy to move around as the sun moved throughout the day. Also would suggest purchasing the heavy duty stakes for the beach as the stakes provided with the Ozark were much too small/flimsy for the beach.
We bought this specifically for using at the beach, as most of our family are sun-sensitive and umbrellas never seem to work well enough for us. We "practiced" setting it up in the yard first and then we used it three days in a row at the beach. Super fast and easy set-up and it held up wonderfully in the winds. We are loving it!!
Use this on the 4x4 beach in Brigantine, NJ. Works great as it should. The opening at the peak of canvas helps it not become a big kite and allows wind to pass through it. Just make sure to bury the legs or use spikes. Also leave the canvas on when closing and just fold up and place back in holder. Works great!!
Just recently purchase this canopy and it was a breeze to set up! It only took 2 people to do it and it took all of 10 minutes to get it up, put the cover on it, and steak it. I also purchased the screen attachment which was also an easy set up and it does fit pretty close to the canopy cover and does an excellent job keeping the bugs out. Mosquitoes are a serious problem where I live so I love it :) Also great pricing on both items!!!
Plan on buying at least 4 substantial tent stakes or better yet, 4 to 8 corkscrew type steel awning anchors about 16 inches long. They are marketed to RV users and as tie-out stakes for dogs. Without anchors the canopy is very vulnerable to wind and it can damage property or injure someone. The stakes included with the canopy are worthless, too short and thin. Put one stake at each frame foot and one 3 to 5 feet out from each corner for the included adjustable tie-down lines. The frame may feel heavy but remember it's a 100 square foot sail. Also be prepared to quiclky lower the telescoping legs and remove the fabric completely if wind is predicted to be over 20 MPH. The tan colored fabric has a silver coating on the underside to increase sun heat protection. For continuous use buy a bottle of Formula 303 Protectant for fabric which will keep the polyester fabric repellent and boost the UV resistance. You can spend $20 on the treatment or $50 to relpace the fabric when it tatters within a year from sun damage. A string of white LED holiday lights hanging around the edge of the awning looks nice after dark. Solar powered LED light strings may also work for you if they can get the sun. Two canopies can be joined together to make a car port - use a 10 foot length of vinyl roof gutter to catch all the water that would otherwise drain inbetween them.
