Works well made for smaller umbrellas

Didn't think we had our old base so we ordered a new one when we ordered the umbrella. Found the old base and contacted Hayneedle to cancel but it had already shipped. Customer Service was very helpful. Pole on new umbrella too narrow for old base so good thing we couldn't cancel. New base working well.

Yes I would recommend this base to a friend, but I would also recommend my friend buy the model that includes the short tube that helps stabilize the umbrella put into the base. I didn't realize this one didn't have that until we got it. We will work with this and make due, but pay the five bucks or so more and get the one with the receiver tube included. We have that model on our umbrella that is in our patio table.

Some what misleading title, ""50 lb Patio Umbrella Base"" should be ""plastic or resin umbrella base"". Ship weight was about 5 lbs. You have to supply your own filler, sand, which was not a problem. One time locking cap prevents refill or leaks. Has a locking bolt for the umbrella which prevent the umbrella from being gone with the wind. Although, it does not allow the umbrella to be rotated when using a tilt function to follow the sun. It becomes a choice lock it down or rotate it...
