We have 2 chihuahuas and both hate to have their nails done with regular clippers. They bite my wife, and cry every time she tried with regular clippers. Ever since we got this, they are calm, relaxed and let her do their nails without any issues. The only thing is you have to get replacement heads regularly because the glue holding them together disintegrates over time and they come unraveled. The cost of the replacement sander heads ($20.00) are just as expensive as the device itself. Which is where they suck you in for big bucks. They really should reduce the cost to half of what the device costs.
doesn't work on big dogs. I have a lab and does nothing except stops rotating when I touch it to his nail. A joke of a product more stressful than clipping and I hate clipping his nails because they are thick.
My dog absolutely HATES when I clip his nails no matter how careful I am. I don't know if its the cutting noise or the feel - hes a Keeshond, which makes it challenging with his black and some white nails. This item DOES WORK. First off; you have be be a good owner in that you have trained your dog to be used to be poked and handled (ie teeth, vet exams, grooming, etc) Also YOU have to be patient, if you have not clipped his nails before beginning this, you will have to spend time learning how far down to "dremmel" off. My dog is ticklish on his back paws so I have to make sure I secure his nail as the machine works so its not like "chalk down a chalkboard" feeling. He gets so relaxed when I do his front paws he actually leans his head onto my hand - maybe hes thanking me I finally got an item that he can deal with instead of the clippers....
Ever since my dogs went to the groomer, they would freak out at the sight of regular nail clippers. When they were puppies I had bought the more expensive version (Peticure) and they hated it. I bought this today and brought it home, granted it's not like on the TV commercials where it shows the pets loving it, but they didn't freak out and they actually let me us this on their nails. I think it's a good value for the price, and unlike the more expensive one since it is battery operated, the vibration is not as strong and the dogs seem to like it better. All in all I think it's worth it.
I own this product and love it. My dog and I would fight for hours trying to trim his nails. Now when I turn it on my dog will sit at my feet waiting to have his nails trimmed. I've owned this for product for about 4 months.
