I don't know how anyone keeps this in place while putting a closed-toe shoe over it. This slid around and pulled at my toe, making it a tight elastic band around the base of my normal sized toe. Might return the other one in store unless I can get the one I opened to do what it's supposed to in a sandal instead.

pedifix visco gel bunion, and toe separators are by far the best. Have had to use others that dr has given me, but they discolor and are sticky after washing. Not Pedifix. I don't like the price tags, tho. yet, they are worth it and long-lasting.

I'd never worn anything like this on my feet for a bunion problem. I should've tried these type of foot pain relief things much earlier. I'd used the disposable moleskin and gel pads that have adhesives and got some pretty good relief but it forced me to keep buying bunion pads. This nicely designed, very soft rubber-like pad (with big toe anchor) actually stopped virtually all the bunion pain. It's washable, reusable. Easy to slip on with a slight stretch (don't overstretch!) over the big toe and can be adjusted to center over the bunion, from the side of the foot to under the toe. It fits very well and is not felt while walking in street shoes. I bought two more on the next order. Finally, some real prolonged relief at a reasonable price. I don't know how long they'll last, though. The material has mineral oil impregnated in it that does soften the callous a little, permitting some of it to be rubbed off. But it does not make the skin, socks or shoes oily! A really nice medical product, overall.

My old bunion guard had a gel filling. These do not. The material is supposed to be a gel but the is no insulation against the toe rubbing which causes the pain.
