The foam is soft and non-abrasive and comes in a 40 feet long roll and is 12 inches wide. A bonus point is that the roll is perforated every 12 inches which makes it easy to use without needing scissors - you just tear off what you need by hand! Because of the inherent rigidity of the foam, it doesn't wrap around and stay as good old fashioned newspaper would so I ended up using some packing tape to make things stick!
