I bought this feeder in December. It has never worked properly. Cannot trust that it will give the correct portion or anything at all!

It stopped working about a week after I got it, just a few days ago. It seems the gears are stripped and the paddle wheels only turn if there is no weight (food) on them, and then only intermittently. I want a new one, or to return it, but the packaging for the one I bought is long gone.

I'm not saying the product isn't good but it falls short in many ways that make you want to just get a better quality one. I give 3 stars for many reasons. The timer works perfect, so thats all good. It's in the actual design of the feeder. 1) The bowl is too shallow and thick so once the food gets to high(about a cup) it blocks the entrance where the food comes out and keeps the full amount from being distributed. If you have a small animal then just ignore this because it be fine for you but since I have a large dog that requires more its a problem. 2)The lid on top annoys me to no end, it's very cheap in the screw part so getting it off is tricky, as someone with arthritis this makes it hard. 3) The BIG problem is the measurements are off. When it says 1cup your really only getting 3/4cup. Now if you have a small animal this will be a major problem. I feel with paying this much it should at least get the measurements right. Like I said it falls short of being perfect, the little things bother me a lot. It will work for what I need it for but really yall just invest in a better one. Or program more portion size than you usually give to get your animal their full amount.

At first, I wasn't sure that this was a necessary machine. But it does come in handy when I'm gone most of the day. My cats get to eat fresh dry food and I'm sure there's enough food out. It's easy to program and the price isn't too bad.

I bought this because it made the most since and it was the best money ever spent. I must say I bought it about a year ago back in 04/2010 and the price was $48.00 which was a great deal. I WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT A FEEDER LIKE THIS FOR MY CATS EVER AGAIN. This should be a requirement to owning a cat, to have this product. my Exo and Leo love it and so do I. Also on a side note, people complain about it clogging if you over load it, that's *only* true if you put BIG dog food in it, you can fill this bad boy until the top can't close if it's just regular cat food because it's so small. Also it has never failed or given us any problems, it has absolutely been perfect.
