I like that this mat is large. It may be too large for some, but it's perfect for my needs.

I ordered two of these mats after reading reviews and they arrived yesterday. I noticed a smell as I opened the box and thought maybe it was just an odd rubber smell. I put the mats down and was very pleased with how large they are. The cats immediately laid on them and started rolling all over them so that could be an issue once there is litter on it. I sprayed febreeze trying to cover that smell but as the evening went on it seemed to drift out of the room so I opened the window to that room and shut the door thinking the smell would go away by morning. This morning I opened the door and was pleased to see the mats did a good job of holding the litter but I really can not handle this smell. I have read the reviews and noone else has mentioned anything about it. I took the mats outside to air all day in the hopes the smell would be gone however it has been 10 hours and I can still smell it. It smells like a skunk so I am not sure if a skunk could have been in the warehouse or if it happened during shipping. I was home when the package arrived and immediately opened the box and threw it by the outside trash bin. Tomorrow is trash day and I was carrying the boxes to the curb I noticed that smell on the box. I dont know if the box made the mats smell or if the mats made the box smell but I sure hope the smell goes away so I can bring the mats back inside. Has anyone else noticed a strange smell on their mats when they opened the box? If so does it eventually go away? Maybe it is just the material it is made from but the smell is awful and I can't imagine the item would have so many good reviews if that is the case so I am wondering if something happened in the warehouse either before during shipping

This mat is just what I needef.very large and constructed with solid material. I have a large cat that kicks litter everywhere. This mat catches 98 % of it. Came folded only twice in packaging. Placed a couple boxes with stuff in them on it for 5-6 hours and put in cats litter box area The mat was perfectly flat by next morning. This mat is also good on carpet it lays flat and stays in place
