It still works just as great as it did 12 years after I bought it.

Largest cons are the lack of audio out options. There is a headphone jack and a SPDIF jack only. Really needs more for external a/V hookups. Also when setting up an hdmi connection it tries to include 5.1 for stereo spkrs. Pros : Great picture 4 hdmi ports and energy star compliant.

I have been shopping, and shopping for an HD Tv. I shopped all the big name stores and saw their prices and felt that they were all overpriced. I ended up here @ Wal-Mart online. I have a Phillips Tube television, and I have had it for YEARS...never had a problem with it. So when I came accross a Philips HD TV here, I started reading all the reviews. Many were favorable and few had bad experiances. As a verteran of Philips I knew better. I eyed the 47" for months, and I do mean months. I just had to have this television. Well about 3 weeks now, my sister and I took a drive out to Delaware and we both purchased the same HD TV. We were like kids in a candy store, and when we got our TV's homes we were like little kids @ xmas. Once we set the TV's up <which by the way was childs play> we were in awe. The brightness of the television, the color, the picture... absolutely amazing. We just love it. Not to mention my kids love it as well. We will be going back to purchase the 42" in 1 week. Are there any down sides??? If you like to listen to the tv LOUD, then I suggest you get a surround soud system. As for me it's fine. One other thing... to see your HD channels in HD you must purchase a HDMI cord, one does not come with the set. So what, wal-mart has one for 29.00. Can't beat that.

Initial installation was a breeze. Anyone can do it. All you have to do is answer the on-screen questions. Picture quality is fantastic. The only gripe I have is the annoying data display when changing channels. Its TOOOOOOOOOOO BIGGGGGGG. And the channel numbers when selecting a different channel is very, very small and in the upper left corner of the display. Other than that, I am very satisfied.

I bought this TV 4 months ago for 1,300. I have been extremely pleased with it thus far. Easy to set up, for those who aren't tech savy this is a good TV, there are not alot of features in the TV menu for sound, picture, ect. I think that is a good thing, less for me to mess up. Looks great, very actrative TV compared to most. I'd have liked a swivel base like the samsungs have, but not worth the extra money, the heavy glass base still looks good. Can't complain about the picture. This is a very Energy efficent TV, but the super saver mode dosnt look very good. It has 3 HDMI ports which is great, one for my DVR one for my 360, and an extra for when i get a blue ray. I highly reccomend this TV, my next LCD will be a 32" for my bedroom and Im thinking I'll either get another Phillips or try a Vizio. I refuse to pay $200 more to get a Sony or any other overpriced brand.
