Soon after (3 months) I purchased the 55" TV it would shut off while watching it, then turn back on (sometimes 4 or 5 times in one show). I didn't have time to deal with the problem as I was staying with and caring for my dying father. This continued every time the TV was on, for roughly a year and a half. After that stopped, the speaker started popping while watching TV. It wouldn't be continuous, maybe one to three time in a show, you would get a loud pop. Just enough to get your attention. What was upsetting was the TV didn't have a lot of run time on it (my husband drives truck and I don't watch daytime TV). We purchased a larger TV and placed this one in our bedroom, where my husband would watch it for a half hour before going to bed. Three months ago while my husband was watching it, it shut off and wouldn't come back on. This TV has been nothing but a problem from the time we purchased it up until now. I purchased this TV because of the Philips name and I can honestly say, I am very disappointed in the product Philips has out today!
TV was easy to get set up but picture quality was not very good. I have a 42" LCD 720p 60hz that has better picture. After having TV about a week it wouldn't turn off unless I unplugged it, a few days later it began turning itself on (no timer was set). In less than 1 month of purchase I took TV back to the store where I purchased it.
I have two Phillips TV Sets, a 42" and a 47", the 42 inch is perfect, however, the 47" set has a sound problem that has never been repaired. It is an intermitting problem that happens two or three times a week. The shops say that they have to, " catch it in the act", and this is not possible. Thanks for hearing my unsolved case.
I am very pleased with the Phillips television. The picture is excellent. I am pleased with the color, the sharpness, the contrast, and the size. It is being utilized in our Living Room. I intend to get the same model of television for our Family Room and for our Den. It is easy to set-up and has an excellent menu and remote control. The sound is very good. I have four different brands of television sets in my house, and this one is my favorite. The price is very reasonable also. My most important goal was to have an excellent picture, the Phillips tv certainly fulfilled that goal.
I must say that this product is very easy to setup and use. It is very self explanatory where I do not have to refer to the manual for everything. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone and I will also buy another one in the very near future.
