Philips Avent Anti-colic Nipples - Flow 1, 4-Pack, SCY761/44

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this nipple set to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The Philips Avent Anti-Colic Nipples fit seamlessly with the Philips Avent bottles for a quick set-up. This was useful when my loved one was extra fussy (I could get the bottle ready within 30 seconds!) I also appreciated the thicker material and the snug fit with the bottle. I never had to worry about drips while feeding or spills when the bottle was in the diaper bag. The shape of the nipple worked okay for my loved one. The flow was slightly faster than expected, and I had to pace the feed to keep my little one comfortable. However, I didn't notice any gas or spit up issues, which was great. One thing to keep in mind about these nipples is that the size is wider than some other brands. For me, this meant I could not sterilize as many during the same cycle in my sterilizer. Also, the ridges in the nipple meant that they did not get fully dried in the sterilizer. Overall, these two issues were inconvenient enough that I would not use these for every day feeding.

I will say I do love the Philips Advent Anti colic baby bottles, but the level 1 is really difficult for my baby to use. The level 1 flow just did not come out fast enough and my baby did get frustrated. I noticed when I changed this to a level 2 this was much easier and baby was able to finish his bottles. The nipples are easy to clean and easy to install with the bottles. Make sure you just push the nipple securely in to ensure there are no gaps and the milk does not leak through.

They attached securely with no leaking and were easy to put on and clean, which made feeding simple. My son is primarily breastfed and only takes bottles a few times a week, and he did very well with these nipples. While the slow flow could have been a little slower, it was still a good pace overall. At 9 months, he adjusted easily and fed comfortably with the Level 1 nipple.
